The yearly MTN sponsored Project Fame West Africa
music competition has been hit with financial crisis,
Biggieblog.com can authoritatively reveal.
The prestigious competition, which is at the final stage of its
season eight audition, has been battling the financial mess
for not less than five consecutive seasons now, and the
situation is apparently getting messier.
Biggieblog.com gathered that Ultima Limited, the producers of the
competition, have been having serious challenges with MTN,
the sole sponsors of the talent hunt competition since 2010
when South Africa hosted the FIFA world cup soccer
competition.
After South Africa hosted the world cup, which was
sponsored by MTN, the telecommunication company has
been reluctant to fulfil its financial commitments to Project
Fame. And even when such obligations are met, they rarely
come as at when due.
Naij.com correspondent gathered that on several occasions,
Ultima Limited has been left with no option than to continue
running the competition from their personal purse till MTN
eventually redeems their pledge.
Apart“It hasn’t been a sweet experience for Ultima before
they are facing hard times from MTN. In fact, certain things
will change on this year’s Project Fame in a bid to cut cost.
They are looking into every area to ensure that the financial
cost of organising the competition this year is limited ,”
