An online portal, the Cable, had quoted Ahmad Salkida, a journalist, known for his access to some of the leaders of the Boko Haram has having said that Albarnawi was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services in Lokoja and moved to Abuja on Friday.

Suspected Bomber With Claims To Chibok Receives Treatment In Cameroon

Cameroonian health and security officials on Monday started the treatment of an arrested suicide bomber who claimed to be one of the 219 missing Chibok Girls.

The girl was found to be heavily drugged and bore several injuries on her body.
The girl’s health condition had delayed her movement to the far north regional capital of Cameroon, Maroua, as earlier planned.
Pictures of the arrested suspected bomber obtained by Nigerian officials indicated that the girl was likely a minor, between ages nine to 12 years.
Her accomplice was about 30 years or more, and both spoke only in Kanuri language.
Considering the well-known guidelines regarding the publication of photography of minors, we have decided to forward the pictures of the suspected bomber to the Murtala Mohammed Foundation for verification by interested Chibok community stakeholders.
The Ministry of Women Affairs, the Nigerian High Commission in Cameroon and other agencies of government will continue to work together with other stakeholders to verify all the issues.

Nigerian Military Gives Final Warning To Boko Haram

In a statement on Tuesday, October 20, the Nigerian military gave what it described as “Final Warning” to the Boko Haram insurgents to desist from acts of terrorism, surrender themselves and face the law, Premium Times reports.

The acting director of army public relations, Sani Usman, signed the warning which is said not to be different from similar warnings issued in the past.

Reports have it that due to the dateline President Mohammadu Buhari gave to rid the country of insurgents’ approaches, the Nigerian military has given the third in the series of their final warnings.

Usman said: “This is to finally warn all Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are, to desist from all acts of terrorism, surrender themselves and face the law now,” the Tuesday warning reads in part.
“We wish to inform them that we are aware of all their hideouts, camps and enclaves.
“They should follow their colleagues who have so far surrendered. Failure to surrender will result in serious consequences as our troops have closed up with them.
“We equally appeal to members of the international community and the world at large, to kindly persuade Boko Haram terrorists and their international collaborators to desist from acts of terrorism and renounce their membership of the terrorist organization forthwith.
“They should also immediately and unconditionally release all abducted persons in their custody including the Chibok school girls.”

Before today’s warning, the force had also warned on October 11 which was signed by Usman.
It read: “This is to once again warn all Boko Haram terrorists wherever they are, to desist from all acts of terrorism, surrender themselves and face the law now.
“We wish to inform them that we are aware of all their hideouts, camps and enclaves. They should follow their colleagues who have so far surrendered.

“Failure to surrender will result in serious consequences as the troops are fast closing up on them.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Consular, Ahmed Abo-Zeid expressed Egypt’s support to Nigerian government in the fight against Boko Haram and terrorism.

See The Names Boko Haram Released As Their Sponsors

The Boko Haram sect has cited the stoppage of its monthly financial support for the recent attacks on northern states, claiming that the group was until recently being bankrolled by some northern governors.
The claim by the group came as it also alleged that former President Olusegun Obasanjo was in its firing range last September but was spared because of his tolerance of the sharia Islamic code during his presidency.
An unnamed high ranking official of the group alleged that the Ibrahim Shekarau administration in Kano made a monthly N10 million donation to the group while the Bauchi Governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda besides financial commitments was also an admirer of the military prowess of the group.
The group has, nevertheless, dismissed any personal grouse with President Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that the problems with the administration were carryovers from what it claimed to be the callousness of the Yar‘Adua administration in waging war against the group.
The allegations were made by a high ranking official of the group to the online publication 247ureports.com.
Mr. Michael Ishola, Chief Press Secretary to the Bauchi State Governor, Alhaji Isa Yuguda, however, debunked the claim as a “very, very strange allegation.”
The newly appointed Special Adviser (Media) to the Kano State Governor, Mallam Halilu Dantiye on his part, claimed ignorance of any monthly payment to the group by the Ibrahim Shekarau administration which the present administration succeeded as he claimed that there was no such issue contained in the handover note.
Noting that the attacks on Kano and Bauchi arose from the stoppage of the financial support to the group by some northern governors, the official in the disclosures to the publication said that the entire northern governors have ongoing relationships with the group.
“Most of them pay us monthly to leave their states alone”.
It was alleged that the Shekarau administration reached an agreement as far back as 2004 to be paying a monthly support of N5 million to the group which was later raised to N10 million sometime in 2009.
The agreement also reportedly included infrastructural support. The support was, however, allegedly stopped at the inception of the Kwankwaso administration in May 2011.
The publication alleged that the Kwankwaso regime also turned against the group dismantling its infrastructure in the state.
“We warned the Governor of the consequences. We concluded on Kano in December 2011,” the source said. Shekarau’s spokesman, Sule Yau did not respond to the allegations yesterday as he did not respond to a text message sent to him. Mallam Dantiye Special Adviser to Governor Kwankwaso claimed ignorance of the alleged support saying that nothing like that was contained in the handover note received from Shekarau.
On Bauchi, the publication reported that Governor Yuguda reached a similar agreement with the leadership of the group for the payment of N10million monthly to the group alongside the provision of training grounds on the many mountains scattered in Bauchi State. The governor it was reported also promised to give them security against arrests by the federal government. The agreement was supposedly reached in June 2008 but mid 2011, the governor reportedly stopped the disbursement of the funds.
Mr. Michael Ishola, Chief Press Secretary to Governor Yuguda also refuted the allegation against Governor Yuguda. “It is a very, very strange allegation, because the Isa Yuguda I know cannot be involved in such an allegation. We in Bauchi have been living in peace. We are not involved in that,” he told Vanguard yesterday.

Chibok girls alive; Many impregnated, carrying VVF, other diseases – Escapee Chibok girl reveals

There were indications weekend that many of the 200 girls of the Government Secondary School, Chibok abducted in April 2014, are alive and holed up in the Lake Chad region of the North-East epicentre of the battle to dislodge Boko Haram terrorists from Nigeria.
Sources disclosed to Saturday Vanguard that the girls who were relocated from the initial Sambisa Camps of the terrorists, following unrelenting bombardments by air and land operations, have been relocated to Lake Chad area with some of the girls spread along border
communities.

Saturday Vanguard gathered that about two weeks ago, one of the abducted girls who was formerly kept in a Sambisa forest camp, escaped from the hands of the abductors and ran into the hands of some Fulani herdsmen. It was the Fulani herdsmen having confirmed

that the girl was a Chibok girl, who assisted her to get to the Baga military base of the multi-national Joint Task Force.

At the Baga base, the escapee girl was said to have confessed that many of them were forcefully married to the terrorists who not only impregnated them but infected some of them with different diseases. On her part, she was not only impregnated, but she got the VVF disease from one of the terrorists.

According to the escapee, at the camp where she escaped from there were about 60 of the girls while others were shared and moved to border communities. Narrating more tales of woes on what the Chibok girls went through and are still going through in the hands of the terrorists, the source said though the Chibok girl
had just put to bed, the VVF (Vesicant Virginal Fistula) disease with which she was infected by the terrorist had made her uncomfortable hence her decision to flee to seek for medical help, as she was repeatedly passing solid waste uncontrollably.

Continuing, the source said, “When the Fulani herdsman saw the girl in the bush and questioned her about her mission, she narrated her experience, which made the herdsman to take her to the soldiers in that area. With her escape, there are now 59 of the girls left in her
camp.” Emphasizing that almost all of the girls have been married out to the Boko Harram terrorists while quite a number of them have delivered babies, the escapee told security agencies that the girls were always moved from place to place in the Sambisa forest during the
bombardments but that when the heat was too much, they were all moved out of the forest.

The escapee further disclosed to security agencies that Boko Haram terrorists have been seriously weakened and are now moving from place to place aimlessly like lost sheep, planting mines and IEDs (improvised explosive devices) which some security forces have mistakenly fallen prey to.

“All of us were forced to become Muslims but kept in camps far from each other”, she revealed. “You can only see and recognize those in your camp as any of us who refused being Islamized was either beheaded or shot at point blank range.” She revealed further that the camps where the Chibok girls are now kept are in Kangoora, Mallam Fatori, Damasak, Tunbun Kaka and Tumbum Gira. Many of these towns are located in the border communities around Lake Chad with some in Nigeria and others in Chad.

Keep Your Family Safe In Case Of Boko Haram Attacks

President Buhari has given three months to the army to eliminate Boko Haram. The army chief said the job will be done until December.
It’s obvious that the terrorist group will do everything to prove the government and the army chief wrong. First, by multiplying attacks, and, second, by extending them to new areas like the southeast and the southwest.

Until last week, Boko Haram attacks were very much limited to Maiduguri and its nearby villages in Borno state. The last week bomb attacks on Abuja — the “strongholds of the apostates,” as Boko Haram calls the city — may signal a new audacity of the sect to venture so far from its stronghold in order to commit its attacks
and spread fear.

It’s hard to predict what location Boko Haram will target next. Police stations, markets, schools and publics places have been their main focus. Their methods include assassinations, suicide bombings, hostage- taking, kidnapping. And the death toll of their attacksranges from 11,121 to 33,000 , accordingly to Responsibility to Protect, an NGO focusing on human rights protection.
The duty to protect citizens falls on our government, but up until now, our government had failed at that responsibility.
Fear is already spreading in the south capital cities and big metropoles. So, our intention with this post is to provide you and your family with simple guidelines you can follow to minimize fear and prepare you for any eventuality.

The following ten points are things you can do to prepare for Boko Haram attacks, reduce the stress that you may feel now or later. Taking preparatory action can reassure you and your family, and give you a sense of control even in the face of such events.

Here are the 10 guidelines.

1. Collect information: call the Nigerian Red Cross or Red Crescent One of the first things you should do is contact your local Red Cross or Red Crescent organization. Tell them you are worried about your and your family’s safety in case of the Boko Haram terrorist attack. Then ask them
if they could help you with information to handle your children’s questions and also prepare your family for any eventuality. All over the word, the Red Cross has developed know- how in public information and training for civilians to prepare for terrorisst attacks, earthquakes or civil wars.

The more people start calling them and requesting information and training, the faster they will respond and act in your favor.
You can reach the Nigeria Red Cross Society at
07098832512 and find their branch in your state and city here .

2. Talk to your family, especially children
Children are not immune to the news. They can access information on TV, radio. On the Internet, they are exposed to images that could hurt their psychological balance. It’s therefore very important to take the initiative to talk to them, as well as to other members of the family. The conversation could start with simple questions like: “Have you heard about Boko Haram?” “What do you think about them?” “How do you feel about them?” “What would you like to know?”
These questions would elicit lot of responses from your family members, which should lead to sharing information, tips, and designing a family emergency plan in case of attack.
Talking is the first cure for fear. So talk in non-
threatening or inflammatory way to your family,
neighbours, colleagues. Eventually, this would lead to a community watch or a vigilance group.

3. Avoid crowds
As much as possible, avoid crowds, as they may be the preferred targets for an attack.
Any success of the army against Boko Haram will lead to the terrorist group conducting, in retaliation or desperation, more spectacular and large-scale attacks on civilians in order to traumatize the population. This is the reason why we must be more vigilant during this period of the army engagement with the insurgents and their sponsors.
Boko Haram main targets may be markets, shopping centers, bars, nightclubs, large autobuses, open-field concerts, stadiums, beaches, etc. Stay away from such places where large crowds gather. Only visit such places when you are well aware of the security measures taken by the managers of the event and local authorities. In cases you have no choice but to go to a crowded place, learn alternate routes and exits, think about a fallback location where you will go to regroup with your family or group. Do what you have to do as quickly as possible and get out of there.

4. Avoid unattended cars and trucks, as these may contain explosives Most terrorist attacks on civilians are conducted either with car/trucks bombs or automatic rifles. Both are usually unexpected and sudden. They are therefore
difficult to predict, so few precautions could help. As general guideline, avoid taking street in front of police stations where cars are parked. Make sure you quickly enter public building, and don’t stay too long on streets full of people and parked cars. In the end, listen to your instincts, and follow their guidance as swiftly as possible. Sometime our sixth sense knows more than we think.

5. Plan your reactions
People who know in advance where are the exit signs and routes in a building have better chances to survive in case of a disaster. This means the best way to protect yourself is to plan ahead few gestures and conducts you’d take in case of attack. You can ask your local civil protection organization or the local Red Cross how you should react in various events like a car bomb, a suicide bomb, a rifle attack, a kidnapping, a school attack, etc. Make sure you learn the necessary gestures and practices with your children if necessary. Few of these gestures are listed below.

6. Keep these things with you
If possible, always carry a bottle of water with you. The first thing you might look for when under stress is water to drink. Some disaster and emergency experts suggest to always keep a small knife and small pocket lamp. Put your family numbers on a short dial list in case you’d need to send a distress or a notification message. For example, some people stick on the back of their phone a list of numbers to call in case of emergency. The national emergency numbers are toll-free dial 767 / 112 for police, ambulance, emergency services. Your local police emergency numbers are listed here . Save them in your phone and memorize the most important ones. Finally, think about installing Facebook Safety Check application to notify your family and friends about our status updates.

7. If there is a sudden explosion or shooting around you — Here are few reflexes you should prepare yourself to act on:
— Get under a sturdy table or desk. If things are falling around you, wait until they stop falling, then try to leave quickly. Watch for obviously weakened floors and stairways.
— If you see people choking and collapsing, it may mean that some chemical stuff has been released in the air, so cover your nose and your mouth, even with the thin fabric of a scarf or a shirt (especially if it’s wet). This will make a difference and reduce the chances of inhaling chemical/biological agents, not to mention the
smoke and dust that will be in the air after the
explosion.
— Find a spot behind a support beam or a concrete pillar; this will protect you from random bullets or even stop debris from hitting you in the eventuality of an explosion.
— If danger is somewhere outside and you’re inside of a building, control your curiosity and stay away from the windows to avoid random bullets or debris in case of a second explosion. Do not stand in front of windows,
glass doors, or any object that might easily break and hurt you.
— Move away from damaged buildings or shops.

8. If you are trapped under debris
In case you are trapped under debris, try to find a tight area where you still can breathe. If you can move, make sure you carefully check the surroundings. Get close to a door or a window where you can call for help or access light. If the building you’re in is not severely damaged or burning, you should stay inside and call for rescue.

9. Keep calm, but call for help
Panic kills more than bombs and diseases. Therefore, it’s important that you keep calm, so you still keep a clear head to outsmart the tragic events around you. If you are wounded, don’t hesitate to shout for help. Emergency people would first notice people who would call for help, and would first evacuate those who are visibly asking to be evacuated. Be polite, but express
your need to be seen by a doctor immediately.

10. Help others who are hurt or need assistance
In such a troubled period in our country, it’s important to bring your family members to the civil protection training, or the Red Cross first-aid training camps. Those are generally free, or for very a little fee. In case of emergency, you’d be able to help your family members, your children and save your own life. Those are life-long skills that would be helpful beyond just a terrorist attack threat.

In conclusion, the most important guideline is to have a united family in the face of common terrorist threat. Talk about terrorism, spend time with your family and talk to your children about their fears of terrorist incidents. If possible, make a family presentation about how you understand the origins of Boko Haram, share your ideas
about how collectively you can contribute to defeat them. Use simple words that even young children can understand. There is more knowledge in your family than you think.
Be safe.
