ALIBABA’S JANUARY 1ST CONCERT...

For the second year running, Alibaba the doyen of Nigerian comedy rolls in the 
New Year with a spectacular evening of comedy and music that features
 the crème de la crème of Nigerian entertainment.
The event that started in January 1 2015 aims to celebrate the highlights 
of the year that just ended and usher in 2016 with good cheer and exhilarating
 merriment with musical performances and outstanding standup comedy routines.
The out gone year would be reviewed by 12 of the biggest names in comedy with quips, 
banter and a healthy dose of wit.

It promises to be fun filled with various segments such as A Few Good Men features a
 medley by Cobhams, Bez, Timi Dakolo, Darey, Nosa and Praiz.
The Roast segment features A-List entertainers such 2face, Sound Sultan, Dede Mabiaku 
among others skewering comedians for being the butt of their jokes during the year. 
In the spirit of equality and “feminism”, comediennes will take on the womenfolk and 
send hilarious barbs at them as well.
The highlight of the2016 edition is the selection of the Alibaba Spontaneity 
competition winner, a culmination of whole year’s contest. 
The 12 contestants have jostled four times in 2015 to show their innate ability
 to make audiences laugh spontaneously.
 The eventual winner would go home with a brand new car, a contract that will 
see him draw a monthly salary in 2016 and a chance to intern
 with any comedian of his choosing.

Alibaba Blasts NBC Over Banning Olamide's Shakiti Bobo

About a week ago news spread on various media that some popular hit songs have been banned from the airwaves by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
The news got mixed reactions from music lovers across the country as the many of the songs are fan-favourites and streets anthem.
Nigeria’s king of comedy, Alibaba, has reportedly expressed his displeasure on the NBC’s ban, maintaining that most of the banned songs have been in circulation for a long time.

He was said to have used Olamide’s Shakiti Bobo as an example, maintaining that even pastors are aware of the song.
According to Nigeriafilms, Alibaba wondered why it took the NBC so long to realise that the songs were not good enough for the public, reaffirming that some of the songs were so popular that worshipers demonstrate the dance steps during praise and worship in churches.

In his words; “I just heard that some songs were banned from airplay. Wait o, if it took NBC how many months to know the contents of a song were not fit for public consumption, then we should worry. Songs that I have heard Pastors singing sef. People even shakiti in church during praise and worship.”
