Carrying your cross many atimes are things life throws at you. There are
times that we are put in a very tight corner. There are times that we
are pushed to the wall and there are times that we look to our front,
right, back and centre and there is just no way out. It is either we
carry our cross or look for the next best exist not to do so.
There are times that it looks as though everything around you is falling
apart. There are times that you feel like just giving up. 'You say to
yourself, ''this cross is too heavy for me to carry. Why me? Why must I
be the one to carry it? Why must I even have to carry it?''
There is so much pain and anguish attached to carrying your cross but
the tin is, it is very important that you have to carry our cross
because most times, it is God's will that you do so. Here is a great
example:
Jesus, being the son of the most High God was sent by God to die for the
sins of the whole world. A sinless God was sent by His Father to become
a man and die for a sinful world.
For this to happen, someone he trusted so dearly must betray Him. He
must be arrested. He must be stripped naked. He must be condemned,
beaten severely and insulted.
When it was time for Jesus to carry His cross (that is, His journey to
die for the world to begin... which is to be betrayed and arrested), a
disciple (Peter) who loved Jesus so much didn't want that to happen and
then he cut off the right ear of the high priest's servant.
And Jesus said to Peter ''put your sword into your sheath: the cup which
the Father has given Me, shall I not drink it?'' (John 18:11).
Now after Jesus was crucified, He went to hell and took the keys of
death and hell from the devil. He also reconciled the whole world to God
the Father because our sins separated us from God. Jesus's death was
the bridge that reconnected us back to the Father. We were also gifted
with the presence of the Holy Spirit when Jesus ascended to be with God
again.
What exactly was Jesus reward for doing all these things?
''8 And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father'' (Philippians 2:8-11).
So you see why it is also important
to carry your cross? There is also a great reward awaiting for you in
the finish lane. God''s grace and strength will always be sufficient.
It Will Always End In Praise.
