The ruling All Progressives Congress has sent it condolence to the family and friends of the former Bayelsa state governor, Diepreye Alamieyeseigha.
Alamieyeseigha reportedly died on October 10 of a high blood pressure, The Punch reports.
Lai Mohammed, the publicity secretary of the APC, in statement release to newsmen on Sunday, October 11, said the party also condoled with the Bayelsa state government over the death of its former governor.
Mohammed said that the news of the demise of the former governor came as a shock to the party as his illness was not made public.
APC prayed that the family would find comfort in their moment of sadness, as well as the strength to bear the loss of their loved one.
The APC said: “May the soul of the departed also rest in perfect peace.”
Meanwhile, Seriake Dickson, the governor of Bayelsa state, had confirmed the demise of the deceased.
In a statement issued by Daniel Iworiso-Markson, the chief press secretary to the governor, Dickson described Alamieyeseigha’s death as a personal loss to him, the government and the people of the state.
According to the governor, Alamieyeseigha was a strong pillar of support to the restoration government.
