Study Hard: JAMB Utilizes Anti-Guess Software for CBT

jamb anti-guess software
To expert guessers, this is to inform you that the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has acquired a software that reduces the tendency for students to guess accurately during examination.
JAMB’s Public Relations Officer, Dr Fabian Benjamin said JAMB has invested heavily in training and acquisition of some softwares that are specifically designed for examinations.
Benjamin’s words; ‘’Technically, what we were using before to test students was what we called Classical Test Theory, but now we have adopted what we call Item Response Theory. The difference is that the Item Response Theory reduces the percentage of guessing. The tendency for students to guess and guess right is minimal with this software.”
What next? Study hard to have a mastery of their subjects.

2015-JAMB-utme-results
Candidates that participated in the 2016 UTME can access their performance 30 minutes after leaving the examination hall.

While encouraging students to come to the reality of computer-based testing as the most effective way of conducting examination in the 21st century, JAMB registrar, Professor Dibu Ojerinde said:

“The idea of the CBT is that after 30 minutes of the examination and the candidate leaves the exam hall, a graphical result of the test will be sent to the candidate’s mobile phone number, while the specific scores will be released within the period of four days.”

Security Agencies Rescue Gov Dickson's Sister Without Paying Ransom -Bayelsa Govt

The younger sister of Bayelsa State governor, Hon. Henry Seriake Dickson has been rescued after spending over two months in the hands of kidnappers.
A statement issued on Monday by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said 26-year-old Nancy Dickson, was rescued on Sunday evening from her abductors without any payment of ransom.
According to him, "some of the kidnappers took to their heels while others were apprehended following a tip off on their hideouts. The kidnappers were rattled and overwhelmed to surrender forcefully their kidnapped victim, following intense pressure mounted by the security agencies to track down the kidnappers".
While calling on the people of the state not to succumb to the demands of ransom made by kidnappers, Governor Dickson assured that plans were underway to amend the Bayelsa State Secret Cult, Kidnapping and other Related Offences Prohibition Bill 2012 to proscribe payment of ransom in the state.
He stressed that the Bill when passed into law, would go a long way in putting a stop to the incidence of kidnapping in the state.
Dickson urged Bayelsans to take a cue from his personal experience with kidnappers when his aged mother was abducted in 2009 and efforts were made to secure her release without payment of ransom.
As part of efforts to stem criminal activities in the state, Governor Dickson said: "a comprehensive security strategy would be launched soon to boost government's policy of zero tolerance of crime and criminality."
He, therefore, advised anyone or group of persons who indulge in the unwholesome practice to turn a new leaf as the full weight of the law would be brought to bear on any culprit.

Nigerians cheer President Buhari during meeting in Qatar

Photos obtained by Naij.com showed the Nigerians living in Qatar taking photos of President Buhari as well as cheering him after the meeting on Sunday.
The president charged Nigerians to rekindle the spirit of patriotism and selfless service to encourage more foreign investment in the country.
Speaking at a town hall meeting with members of the Nigerian community in Doha, President Buhari assured them that the federal government would continue to create the enabling environment for investments in the country, anchored on peace and security.

He said: “We have abundant natural and human resources in the country, including huge oil and gas deposit.
“But the challenge is securing those installations and to persuade some of our countrymen to be more patriotic and stop sabotaging the installations.
“When people are being abducted and some are being murdered, when installations are being blown up now and then, the incentive for people to invest in our infrastructure is quite slim.”
The president also vowed to look into the complaints of alleged blanket denial of visas to families and relatives of Nigerians intending to visit the state of Qatar.
“Like I tell other Nigerians living in other countries, you must be good ambassadors of the country because globally things are quite difficult in terms of security and the economy.
“If you have something doing, please hold it tight to your heart and try to improve on it because things are quite difficult all over.
“For us in Nigeria, we are trying to do our best to reduce unemployment and we realised this quite early enough, that was why we campaigned on the diversification of the economy,” President Buhari explained.

He ordered security agencies to get to the root causes of the problem. “We will act immediately. “We will conduct an investigation to know exactly what happened. The only way to bring an end to the violence once and for all is to look beyond one incident and ascertain exactly what factors are behind the conflicts,” he said.

President Buhari stressed that all Nigerians must learn to live together as one, in peace and unity. “We are all one nation and one people. There should not be any reason why Nigerians of any group or tongue cannot now reside with one another wherever they find themselves after decades of living together.” The President further expressed condolences to the government and people of Benue State, particularly the people of the Agatu communities, assuring them that the government would do everything possible to ensure that no such incident ever occurred in their midst again. “Once the investigations are concluded, we will act immediately to address the root of the problem,” he said.

'No more home based coaches for Nigeria' - NFF President says as they plan to sue Sunday Oliseh

Nigeria Football Federation president Amaju Pinnick has vowed not to employ a foreign coach to take charge of the Super Eagles again after Sunday Oliseh's handling of the job and resignation on social media while he was away at Zurich for FIFA's elections.

Amaju, who christened Sunday Oliseh 'Africa's Pep Guardiola' upon his appointment last year says the era of giving indigenious coaches a chance to head the Super Eagles is over, saying Samson Siasia will take over the team temporarily while the NFF look for the perfect 'foreign' replacement.

“After this Sunday Oliseh debacle, we have definitely turned the corner. We are now going to start shopping for a well grounded and qualified foreign coach to tinker the Team. Enough is enough. What we have learnt is that there is a world of difference between being a good coach and being a good manager”, he told Hotsports.tv.
While announcing his resignation on Twitter, Oliseh said “Due to contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages, benefits to my players, assistant coaches and myself, I resign as Super Eagles chief coach. I feel fortunate, blessed and eternally grateful for having had the honour to play, captain and coach this great nation of ours, Nigeria.”

But according to reports the NFF are planning legal action against Oliseh citing he broke contractual obligations after he resigned without giving a month's notice plus in his contract he was told to live in Nigeria and given rent but refused to live here to perform his coaching duties.
