According to Daily Trust, Hajiya Fatima Umar Ganduje died in Kano government house one week after she returned from Saudi Arabia for medical treatment.
The funeral prayer was led by Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, at the Ganduje graveyard, in the home town of the governor at 3pm after the Jumma’at prayer at the Central Mosque.

Dignitaries at the funeral prayer includes minister of interior, General Abdurrahman Dambazau, minister of water resources, Sulaiman Hussaini Adamu, minister of state for aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, Attorney-General and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami, and deputy governor of the state, Professor Hafiz Abubakar.
President Muhammad Buhari described the Late Hajiya Fadimatu Ganduje, as a woman of virtue and vision who brought up her children with a strong sense of public service.
She is survived by six children, among them are the Kano state governor, suspended village head of Ganduje, Alhaji Sani Umar and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
