RELATIONSHIP: Beating the broken-heart blues…

The end of a relationship could be devastating and you may feel you’ll never get your confidence back, but there are
simple steps you can take to start putting your life together again. Whether you want to sob, rage, or crawl under the covers, just go with it Denis Knowies, a marriage counsellor, says the first step is “to realize the awful feelings are not the end of everything,
they are the start of the healing process.
You’ll go through despair, anger, denial and finally
acceptance, but never fight your feelings”.
When you’re ready— and only you will know when that is,

she advises these simple steps: Instead of dwelling on how
you didn’t measure up (women generally blame
themselves), do a relationship postmortem. Ask yourself
what worked, what you loved about him, where the
relationship went wrong, what you would do differently and
what your priorities are now. Isolating what you want from a
partner makes you less likely to repeat old patterns and
gives your next relationship a better chance of success.

Get some perspective: It’s not the whole of you that’s been
rejected. Rebuild your confidence by making a list of the
things you ’re good at— for example: you ‘re a good parent,
a fantastic friend, great at your job and men find you
attractive.

Take small steps: If you’ve become too frightened or low to
go out at night, move away from your comfort zone slowly.
Can’t face that blind date? Go out with the girls after work
one night. Slowly push back the boundaries and start to
rebuild your confidence.

Write everything down—it’s very cathartic: Write your ex a
letter outlining your feelings, but don’t send it. Keep it in a
diary to help track progress. One day, you’ll look back and
wonder why you ever felt so miserable.

Revamp hour look: There’s nothing like pampering to
restore self-esteem, in fact, scientists ARISE (Association For
Research Into the Science of Enjoyment) have found that
experiencing pleasure can boost your immune system and
reduce stress hormones. The key with a make over,
however, is not to make drastic changes you may regret.
A new hair colour is one of the easiest ways to transform
your look or cover any gray that’s making you feel worse. A
lot of newly single women tend to desperately look for a big
change, but it’s best to go a few darker shades at a time. The
perfect hair colour makes the eyes more noticeable, which
makes you look younger. Professionally made faces, once in
a while, arc a good compromise and can take years off you,
while semi-permanent colours are the most natural way to
cover grey.

Get active: Exercise has many benefits in the traumatic time
following a breakup. Women want to overhaul their bodies,
possibly because they feel being over-weight contributed to
the end of the relationship—which, of course, it rarely has.
Whatever the motive, exercise is a great mood-booster.
Exercise releases endorphins that give you a natural high.
Research shows it can be as effective as anti-depressants at
treating mild depression. It can also give you a new purpose.

Meet The Nigerian Who Scored 5.0 CPGA In Russia To Shatter World Record (Photo)

A Nigerian student, Victor Olalusi, has reportedly scored 5.0 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) at the Russian National Research Medical University, Moscow, a world record.
This piece of information was made available by the federal ministry of education on Wednesday in Abuja, when it honoured the young doctor, who achieved the feat in 2013, arguably the first in the world.
Young Dr Victor Olalusi shattered any existing record in Russia with his 5.0 CGPA score

PM News reports that Olalusi, who was the best graduating student in the whole of the Russian Federation in 2013, studied in RNRMU under the Russia-Nigeria Bilateral Education Agreement when he achieved the enviable feat.
Dr MacJohn Nwaobiala, permanent secretary in the ministry, said a lot of Nigerian students were brilliant but Olalusi was a genius and had become an ambassador not only to the ministry but to Nigeria and Russia.
He said: “We have to search the Guinness Book of Records for anybody who has achieved 5.0 in a university. It is curious and strange that all those that evaluated his performance could not find reason to reduce a point from him.
“You should be the ambassador of the Federal Scholarship Board, Ministry of Education, Nigeria and the Russian Federation.
“I look forward to the day you will stand before the President to receive your honour. We have recommendations to that effect.”

Olalusi was also urged to continue in his responsibility as a role model to young Nigerians and to explore opportunities in postgraduate research.
Mrs Ifeoma Agunwa, the director of the Federal Scholarship Board, while addressing the audience during the event, noted that Olalusi made 5.0 GPA in all the courses he took in the seven years he studied medicine in Russia.
“Olalusi never had a 4.99 GPA. Even in the Russian language class, he did not fall below 5.0,” she explained.
The representative of the Russian Embassy in Nigeria, Mr Artem Romanov, agreed also, that Olalusi’s feat was very significant for everybody in Russia and commended Nigerians for having much potential in Russia.
According to him: “Nigeria is blessed with abundant human potential which is officially acknowledged in Russia.
“It has been acknowledged in the Russian Ministry of Education that Nigerians have a lot of exceptional talents. Genetically, Nigerians grasp knowledge easily.
“Olalusi is a hardworking person. It is not easy to achieve such in Russia; it goes with talent and hard work.
“I urge you to engage your knowledge in the development of your father land.”

5 Things You Should Know About The New Taliban King

The Taliban have chosen the late Supreme Leader Mullah Omar’s longtime deputy to replace him as the ‘king’. The question is: “What lies behind his dark glasses?”
Chief Mulla Omar was officially announced dead on Thursday, July 30. Photo: IBT
Very little is known about the new Taliban king. As with all others before him, the Islamic fundamentalist political movement is shrouded in secrecy, and intelligence information obtained is always classified.
Naij.com has gathered five key details that tend to bring one up, close and ‘personal’ with the man who will now head the Afghan Taliban fighting the US-backed government in Kabul.

1. He is faceless

The new Supreme Leader Mullah Mansour is believed to be in his forties and from southern Afghanistan near Kandahar, the province where Mullah Omar first started the Taliban in the anarchic years that followed the pull-out of the Soviet Union after a grisly decade of fighting with the mujaheddin.
Like Omar, not a lot is known about Mansour and there are no confirmed pictures of him.
However, his presence is well-known in the Taliban hierarchy and in the Quetta Shura council based in the lawless border regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.

2. The pragmatist

Mansour has been the author of a number of statements issued in the terrorist group’s name, including the recent message addressed to Islamic State (ISIS) leader and self-declared caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.
He is believed to favour peace – hence his reputation as a pragmatist. But experts say he will now need to convince the sceptics.
According to IB Times, the last time Mansour was linked with peace talks, the affair ended in farce, when it emerged the man claiming to be the deputy Taliban leader was in fact an imposter.

Reports say that the imposter made away with a significant amount of money and was never seen again.
Meanwhile, since 2010, it has been Mullah Mansour and some other key figure, Abdul Qayum Zakir, who have personally supervised Taliban contacts with US and European officials, one of which led to the opening of a Taliban office in Doha, Qatar, in 2013.
The Daily Beast reports that in 2012, Abdul Qayum Zakir, challenged Mansour’s authority, but Mansour was able to have Zakir sidelined and silenced, ultimately firing him from the position of the head of the Taliban military council.
According to a research by the Washington Foundation, Mansour and Zakir were rivals, but their competition now seemed to be contained.

3. Natural devoted leader

Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour served as the minister of civil aviation under the Taliban when it ruled Afghanistan from 1996 until the US-led invasion in 2001, a rather underwhelming title for a man with his capabilities.
Sami Yousafza, The Daily Beast’s correspondent in Pakistan and Afghanistan, in an article titled “Up Close With the Taliban’s Next King” wroteMansour in his days as student at the madrasa in the camp, was poring over the holy texts during the day, and sleeping in a room in the mosque at night.
“Even then, he stood out among the other Taliban, which means “students” after all. He seemed a natural leader.”

It is impressive to note that Mansour became a leader in Harkat Islami, a jihadi students’ union, but when Mullah Omar started the Taliban movement in 1994, he was not one of the first to join.
He was picked by Mullah Omar as the Taliban minister of civil aviation and put in charge of the airports all over Afghanistan.
Mansour has been said to have the attribute of a tribal elder, neither conspicuously silent nor overly talkative, a man who weighs his words, reasonable and eloquent.

4. He is generous

A story is told of Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansour, when once in the stifling heat of July in Pakistan, Mansour carried dozens of Pepsi bottles to his class to kill the thirst of his fellow students.
According to journalist Sami Yousafza, the simple gesture showed him to be rich, by comparison with others, and generous.

5. He is sound and smart

Mullah Mansour was the same man who kept the death of the Taliban Supreme Leader Mullah Omar a secret for more than a year.
A Taliban member explained that Mansour hid the death of Mullah Omar so he could handle the transition to his authority with no apparent vacuum in leadership.

“By keeping the death of Mullah Omar secret for a year he made a fool of the CIA and made everyone else look unintelligent.” Mansour’s friend told to the Daily Beast correspondent.
“That is a brilliant entry in his ledger. He got the responsibilities of the leadership while the Taliban were in crisis and there was in fact a void. He built up strong resistance (to government forces) and was in contact with commanders on the ground.”

On Wednesday, July 29, the Afghani government finally confirmed the rumors that Mullah Omar was dead.
The Afghani president’s spokesman stated: “The government of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, based on credible information,The government of Afghanistan believes that grounds for the Afghan peace talks are more paved now than before, and thus calls on all armed opposition groups to seize the opportunity and join the peace process.”
It was also noted that Omar had died more than two years before.
The question now becomes: “What will become of the Afghan Taliban now, under Mansour?”
Most members seem to believe Mansour has firm control over their movement, but it would be odd, many of them say, to call him the leader of the faithful.
That is a title, finally, that has to be earned, and whether he aims finally to achieve it through war or through peace is, at this point, impossible to tell.
Holding the Taliban together as it turns its back on two decades of violence and potentially strikes a deal with the Afghan government will be an enormous challenge, not least at a time when ISIS is taking violent insurgency and terrorism to whole new levels of brutality.

Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha, has given money to the victims of recent Boko Haram attack in Gombe.
The amount of money, donated to 48 victims, wasn’t revealed.

Hajiya Aisha Jibir, member representing Dukku/Nafada federal constituency of Gombe state, presented the money on August 1, Saturday in Gombe, on behalf of Mrs. Buhari.

“The amount is just a token to help relieve you of the suffering you are encountering.
“She also prayed for the soul of those that lost their lives in the blast, to rest in peace.”
On his part, Abubakar Sa’ad, medical director of the hospital, praised Mrs. Buhari for reaching out to the affected people.

He said a total of 48 victims of the explosion were receiving and responding to treatment at the hospital.

Really, What’s the Point of Cheating?

Really, What’s the Point of Cheating?
Cheating is something I have never really been able to understand, like why do people cheat? Am I the only one that thinks it’s a lot of work?! Nowadays it’s like, cheating is not as big of a deal anymore, I mean, it’s so bad that having a side chick or a side bobo is like a fashion trend! You could catch your partner cheating on you and when he gets a chance to explain he says “she’s just a side chick, you know you’re my main girl” like, wait, is that supposed to make me feel better or..?

Why do people cheat?? I ask this question a lot but I have never really gotten a satisfactory answer. We all know the common reasons behind cheating is lack of romance or proper communication, most times Men and Women cheat because they are not happy in their relationships. Communication is the key to a healthy relationship, so even if you’re as proud as Kanye west you have to put that away and talk about your problems.

But then what about the ones that are happy in their relationships but cheat anyway? Most of the time, if not all the time, the reason behind that is Self-gratification. I mean, as humans we all have a natural desire to satisfy our needs but then we also have a natural desire for intimacy, and unfortunately these two needs often seem to be in conflict with each other, but then the reality is, if you really love someone you will be willing to sacrifice your own self-gratification to remain faithful, because the truth is if you’re really in love you would put in effort to NOT mess up.
Definitely there will be temptations, some women are just mean! But if you really loved your partner and a woman with a face like Meagan Good and a body like Beyoncé or a man with eyes like Michael Ealy and a body like Trey Songz tried to seduce you, you wouldn’t fall for it, you might have to put up a pretty good fight but believe it or not that’s what love can do to you. Therefore, there is really never a good reason to cheat, unless of course you’re dating a crazy person like Eminem who has the whole ‘if I cant have you no one else can’ mentality, but then that’s highly unlikely!
So if you’re in a relationship and you’re not happy then end it, if you think cheating on your partner is better than breaking up and hurting their feelings you are very wrong, because either way they are going to get hurt. And if you feel there’s no problem with your relationship but you’re still cheating anyway then you’re just not in love and you have no business being in a relationship, if you were really in love you wouldn’t cheat, because if you love something you don’t just let it go.
