I Would Have Stopped Singing If I Didn’t Win – Jeff

Jeffrey Ufedo Akor, 18-year old winner of the MTN Project Fame West Africa season 8 shares his success story and other issues.

in this exclusive interview.

-How do you see yourself compared to previous
winners?
“I will be myself and make sure I do good music. I intend to do music that will last, not for a week, or a year, but
evergreen.”

-What was your most challenging moment in the competition?
“The day I was on probation and I had to perform again. It was the only day I cried. I cried because after I finished performing, Uncle Ben said ‘West Africa, what is Jeff doing on probation!’ That really touched me, and I’m grateful because the Faculty saved me that day.”

-What female co-contestant did you have a crush on?
“All the ladies are beautiful. I didn’t have a crush on any of them. We were all focused, and we had our gaze on the prize.”

-What is your status on social media now that you are winner of the competition?
“Wow! I’ve been overwhelmed with congratulatory messages from people. I’ve been expressing my appreciation to them all.”

-What artistes will you like to work with?
“I’d like to work with Yemi Alade again. She is a great artiste, she’s free spirited, and has good energy too. I’d also like to work with Praiz, Cobhams, Timi Dakolo, and so many others. We have very amazing artistes in this country. If I could work with all of them, I would.”

-Why do you think West Africa voted for you?
“I think it was just God’s favour upon me. I don’t think it was just because of my singing.”

-Run us through your educational background
“I did a one year training in Sound Engineering at the SAE institute in Cape Town. But I still intend to go further by getting a Bsc in Sound Engineering.”

-Which is your favourite football club?
“I’m a big fan of Manchester United FC.”

-What would have happened if you didn’t win the competition?
“I would have been very disappointed. I participated in a competition with my brother when I was just 13 years old, and everyone thought we were going to win. In the
end we didn’t get anything. So when I registered for Project Fame, my sister told me to be careful because she was sure if the first thing that happened to me occurred again, then I would just give music a break for a while. And it is true.”

Fashion : Stella McCartney’s ‘Elyse’ (Shoes of the moment)

Stella McCartney’s ‘Elyse’ has been out for about a year now but it’s still very present on the fashion scene till today. This is quite surprising as a lot fashion trends don’t last very long; by the next season, something else comes out that grabs everyone’s attention.

They retail between $995–$1,235 depending on the style. I personally adore these platform shoes. They are right up my alley, but obviously more than my pockets can currently afford. Did you read that? Currently afford… The
Lord will do it!

These shoes have been spotted on Beyonce, Rihanna, Kourtney Kardasian to name a few and several fashion
bloggers.

THE FREEDOM DECREE- Nigeria @55

by Michael Sage

Freedom is non-negotiable I do decree,
However, at what price and when is freedom, no longer free. I ask this question because I am sure that we all agree, Our country has become so corrupt and full of anarchy. Our ruling politicians are causing chaos and unrelenting
strife, And expect us to march to the beat of their drums, and noisy fife. While they abuse our trust, our taxes and embezzlement is rife, And they make a misery of our right to a normal self- respecting life. When our guests from other countries both far and near, Have no rights and continually live with anxiety and also in fear. Our constitution and other human rights that we hold so dear, Are under threat by the ruling party who would like it to disappear. When Joe Citizen finds it hard to stomach the deterioration of so many things,
And our leaders believe that we are their pawns and they are the kings.
When an immoral, unethical, dishonest leader expects us to jump when he sings,
Is the reason that all creed and colors are looking abroad to spread their wings.
Our leaders must realize circumventing the law for self- enrichment is not the key,
If we want our country to be prosperous and to be revered internationally.
A leader’s job is not to dictate, but rather to be
respected, admired and be a trustee,
Of the land we love, with so much potential, a land which
should be freer than free.

D CoCo Master Reveals Two Things He Cant Break For Anyone

D’banj definitely is a man in his own lane, but it
appears that the singer has come under a lot of
criticisms since he part ways with his former business partner, Don Jazzy a few years ago.
Ever since D’banj went solo, the Koko master has been doing pretty okay as opposed to speculations.
The singer has sealed major multi-million naira deals that are quite mouth-watering as well.
Recently at 2Face Idibia’s FORTYfied concert,
Vanguard reported that D’banj was snubbed by his label ex-mate when he invited him to come along on stage to perform a song together…
D’banj shared a dapper looking photo of himself
moments ago and it appears he isn’t going to let
anything or anyone break him.

'All I got in this World is my word and my
ball’s. Ain’t breaking Any for no One … I
Only Trust in God.'

The Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II has won the Global Islamic Finance Leadership Award.
The Bahrain-hosted fifth Global Islamic Finance Awards (GIFA) held at the Gulf Hotel, Manama on September 28.

Emir Sanusi received the award for his advocacy of Islamic banking in Nigeria and his leadership role in promoting ethics and social responsibility in Islamic banking and finance.
The Emir was a guest of honour at this year’s awards ceremony which was held in strategic partnership with National Bank of Kazakhstan.

The Emir of Kano was a guest of honour at the
ceremony.
Recently, the name, Emir of Kano has been on the lips of many Nigerians following his marriage to an 18-year- old princess . Sanusi secretly tied the knot with Sa’adatu
Barkindo-Musdafa, the daugther of the Lamido of Adamawa. Some Nigerians came down hard on the Emir, condemning the marriage . Some said marrying an 18 year old is like eating a chicken that just hatched while others referred  to him as a sugar daddy.

brain.

Reasons why Buhari Is Petroleum Minister- APC

Otunba Henry Ajomale, the chairman of the All
Progressives Congress (APC) Lagos state, has said President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision to appoint himself as petroleum minister was due to the president’s knowledge about the sector, haven served as a former minister of petroleum resources in the 80s.

Otunba Ajomale said the need to protect the sector from massive looting which was the norm in past administrations could have also informed Buhari’s decision to appoint himself as minister.

Speaking to journalist at a Yoruba leadership summit yesterday, September 30, at the Airort Hotel, Ikeja Lagos, he said President Buhari decided to be minister of Petroleum so as to “keep the wolfs out and use the resources in a way that is going to develop this
country”.

The APC chieftain cautioned Nigerians against criticising the president for stepping into the crucial role, adding that “ things are getting better in that sector now and if he becomes the head of that sector you will see the change and whatever we are getting is not going to somebody’s pocket again its going to go directly to the use of Nigerians”.
He said he had no problems with Buhari’s decision to head the petroleum sector, noting that the president’s deep knowledge about the sector would benefit the country immensely.
Mixed reactions have trailed President Buhari’s
announcement that he will head the petroleum
ministry. According to him, this step is being taken as part of efforts to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry, which is said to be plagued by corruption, massive fraud, and
crude oil theft. But some critics have accused the president of relegating ministerial portfolios to the background in the name of sanitizing the oil sector.
