NNPC targets $20b income

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Ibe Kachikwu, has said that the corporation is projecting the inflow of $20 billion investments next year to enable  it fund major projects and improve its revenue.

He described 2016 as a crucial year for the NNPC as it is expected to transit from historic loss environment to profit making domain.

In a presentation to the Petroleum Club, Lagos, at the weekend, titled: “Ongoing reforms in the oil industry: Impact of NNPC reforms on the Nigerian economy”, Kachikwu noted that the country may well be on the verge of a significant oil find in the Lake Chad area in the Northeast, based on analysis of recent seismic 3D data generated from the Chad Basin.

According to him, the corporation is injecting a lot of energy into the effort to ensure success in this regard.
The Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Mr. Ohi Alegbe , who disclosed this in a statement yesterday, quoted Kachikwu as saying: “There are signs from the latest 3D seismic studies that oil may well be very close to being found now in Lake Chad after very many years of trials. I think that this is very key. It is key both for the geographical balancing of oil production and it is also very key for the purpose of Refinery placement in the North in terms of access to crude. I am optimistic that by the end of the year we should be able to announce something major on this, ’’ the GMD said.

Dr. Kachikwu noted that in driving and developing Nigeria’s oil and gas sector, certain key areas of urgent intervention have been identified thus : running production acreages with transparent and profitable partnerships to bridge capacity and funding gaps; encourage investment inflow into to Nigeria’s oil and gas industry; engagement with local communities and driving regulation to develop the sector income- via encouragement of the fast track PIB to clarify direction and encourage long-term investment in the industry.

In engagement with host communities, Kachikwu said in the years ahead, NNPC, as the senior partner in the various Joint Venture arrangements, must take leadership in fostering a healthy and symbiotic host community engagement outlook, which must focus in what he termed “what the communities want us to do for them and not what we want to do’’.

The target includes: Reduce and audit cost, restructure corporate centre and staffing, renegotiate existing contracts, including PSCs, streamline subsidy management, boost pipeline security, enhance transparency and accountability, achieving zero tolerance for corruption, rebrand NNPC and unbundle PPMC.

10 UnKnown Facts About Yvonne Nelson

Maybe you have heard about Ghana’s most talented actress, Yvonne Nelson, before. Maybe you have even watched one of her classic movies. Or you just came across her pictures over the internet and you are in awe of the endless beauty. One thing is certain, this must be the most decorated actress the Ghanaian film history has ever produced. She is so professional, so accomplished yet always fighting to become even better. You can see it right from her lifestyle to her roles in movies; this iron lady is designed for big things.
With the media always highlighting every single move she makes and the cameras leaving no stone unturned, it is easy to imagine that you know just about enough of the film star… how you are deceived! Yvonne has her secret life, a life away from the cameras, a life that she finds pride in. Read on to find out the 10 Lesser Known Facts About Yvonne Nelson.

1. Yvonne is a last born –
Born November 12 1985, to Margaret Gaddy and Mr. Oko Nelson in Accra Ghana, this beauty queen is the last out of four. Interesting but…hopefully you can take a closer look the next time you watch the movies, she indeed has the arrogance of a last born! Or bravery if that sounds better.

2. She was raised by her Mum –
Yvonne’s father abandoned her mum when she was still a child. She was single handedly raised by her mum and she owes her all the gratitude. That explains her usual weird action of celebrating her mother on father’s days – she literally wishes her “Happy Father’s Day” time and again on social media!

3. She started her career in junior school –
Y N as she is popularly known actually won her first beauty pageant when in high school. It had long been coming. After having worked tirelessly for a couple of years, she took her chance when at Aggrey Memorial High School and won the Miss Aggrey. Later on, she contested for the 2005 Miss Ghana Beauty Pageant, though she did not win, she succeeded in winning the Best Talent award by performing an original rap song on HIV/AIDS. She also won “Miss Photogenic” and two other awards. With the exposure from the beauty pageant, she won a two-year contract as face of Maxim Cosmetics, and landed a role in the TV series “Fortune Island”, where her acting career began.
The real fame, according to Yvonne started at Venus Films. Venus Films is a well known production house in West Africa and has worked with quite a few celebrities as well. It is no coincidence then that Yvonne Nelson came out of the production house a more complete article.

4. College dropout! –
Why is it that all successful people have to be college dropouts? Or does Kanye West inspire them in some way? Anyway, this beauty queen was doing well until she got pregnant while at Central College University, she had to drop out.

5. So, did she ever complete her college schooling?
Sources indicate that Yvonne desperately wanted to pursue her career to the extent she gave her little born baby to a couple in Botswana. Well, that should point to her going back to school later on.

6. She is the First Ghanaian actress to act in Ivory Coast
Yvonne Nelson takes pride in being the first Ghanaian actress to have acted in Ivory Coast when the three nations-Nigeria, Ghana and Ivory Coast- first collaborate. Following that, Yvonne has shot more than one hundred films within the three states. She admits that she is better off acting. Unluckily for Ghana and the rest of West Africa, she cannot think of comparing Hollywood to Nollywood.

7. She once had a Glaucoma Foundation
As part of her efforts to give back to society, she launched the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation in 2010 to educate the public on the harmful effects of the eye ailment. Unfortunately, the foundation could not thrive for long due to financial challenges. She was inspired to do this by the death of a family member who suffered from the eye trouble. She knows quite a bit about Glaucoma and understands how dangerous the disease could be. She knows that glaucoma is hereditary; that the disease can be linked from grandmother right to the mum and daughter.

8. She Plays Bad Roles
Although Yvonne usually play some nasty roles in movies, she is a far cry from those bad girl roles. Contrary to what we see on screen, Yvonne neither smokes nor drinks.
I am nothing close to the roles I play in movies. People should understand that I am an actresses and I get scripts that expect me to act in a certain manner. As a consummate professional, I am not going to turn down those scripts because I was expected to act in a certain manner,”she said.
Yvonne also does the romantic scenes- its funny how she puts it…”I can go for a few kissing and…” so If you imagined she was not going to kiss in a movie, it’s a big disappointment. What she doesn’t do is what she calls…”more than I can give.”

9. She is a business woman
Apart from filming, Yvonne is a very hardworking business woman – she has a hairline, a fashion shop called YN’s Closet with latest designer wears sourced from all around the world and YN Productions which has movie credits.
Those are some interesting facts about the Ghanaian beauty queen! She also loves sleep! Wow. Anyway, this girl is doing great things, doing them right and winning awards. Since she also admits that she is getting paid, only the sky can be the limit to her ambitions.

10. She initiated Ghana’s #DumsorMustStop# Campaign
In recent times, Nelson has taken it upon herself, together with other celebrities, to add more voices to the masses in protests against the energy crisis in her country. She led a peaceful vigil on May 16, 2015, called DumsorMustStop. The hashtag #dumsormuststop is currently used on social media to amplify the concerns of Ghanaians with regards to the energy crisis.

2012 ETISALAT NIGERIAN IDOL WINNER, 'MERCY CHINWO' SET TO RELEASE FIRST OFFICIAL SINGLE

http://royaltimes.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/Nigeria-Idol-season3-grand-finale-Mercy-Chinwo-Nigerian-Idol-season2-winner-performing-399x600.jpg

Mercy Chinwo would be remembered for her remarkable appearance on the 2012 Etisalat Nigerian Idol completion. She gave quite a show and fought here way through the very stiff competition to emerge winner of the $100,000 price. It has been three year since then but there had been nothing official from her indicating that she plans on taking music up professionally. But now she is set to take the center stage and bring her music to thousands of expectant fans across the country. This is what she has to say..
“I am excited at the coming release of my very first single which will be out on the 14 of November 2015. It is my very first single since after the Nigerian Idol experience. I have been featured on several songs at different times by different artists. Sure the release of my song has been long due and I really do appreciate all of the people out there who had had faith in me, shown some concern, supported me and waited patiently for this time. It sure will take some time to give the details of why it had taken me this long to put my works out, but summed up in one word I wanted the right time, and I think the time is right.

While there have been a lot of uncertainty between society and the Church about my brand and identity, I like to clear the assumptions; I am a Gospel Artist. While I hold my views about music as a tool for communication which should not be limited to the concepts and ideas of religion, I like to stand out for what I believe.

My single is titled”TESITMONY”. It is my attempt to encourage everyone out there to be strong in the face of all of the challenges they go through. In my short time on earth especially in the last three years I have been through a lot and I cannot exactly tell how I came through, my life is a testament of Testimonies. I am sure all over the world people will connect with my music and find their expression in each song as they are all soul bound. I really am excited at my TESTIMONY…” – MERCY CHINWO

10 Signs of Depression (and 6 Ways to Fight It)

Here are 10 common symptoms

1. Depressed mood most of the day nearly every day.

2. Loss of interest in things you used to find interesting or enjoyable.

3. Changes in sleep patterns—primarily oversleeping.

4. Low energy and lethargy.

5. Difficulty with concentration and focus.

6. Feeling anxious or irritable, or having difficulty managing stress.

7. A reluctance to engage with others and a desire to be alone.

8. Decreased libido and sexual desire.

9. Craving sunlight.

10. Craving carbohydrate-rich foods (and resulting weight gain).

If you think you might be suffering from Depression you should consult a mental health professional. In addition, there are a number of things you can do to ease your symptoms:

1. Try light therapy.
Depression is fundamentally about a lack of light (and not the lower temperature). You should prioritize getting outside on sunny days as much as you can. But aside from that, light boxes, lamps, and visors can provide up to 10,000 LUX of light, functioning as a "sun replacement." Light therapy has been shown to be very effective for treating depression. Be sure to get your device from a reputable company and to follow the "dosing" guidelines.

2. Maintain a steady sleep schedule.
Since depression often induces sleep disturbances and disturbances in circadian rhythms, it is important to maintain a relatively strict sleeping schedule.

3. Spend time outdoors.
Depression  can make you want to hibernate and lock yourself indoors until spring. Spending time outdoors and in
nature combats this desire and restores mood and energy levels.

4. Go on vacation (as therapy).
Winter vacations to sunny climates can be an important way to alleviate the symptoms of depression and break up the long winter. (Plus, it’s easier to justify a vacation if it counts as therapy, too.)

5. Eat a balanced diet.
Craving carbs can make you gain weight, which itself can contribute to a bad mood and negative outlook. Try to find a balance between indulging your craving for carbs and eating sufficient amounts of protein and vegetables, while not going over your normal caloric intake. It is natural to gain a few pounds over the winter but the only way to make sure it doesn’t become more than that is to be mindful of your food intake.

6. Medication.
Many people who suffer from depression take antidepressants seasonally, starting in the fall and then weaning off of them in the spring. If you think you could benefit from antidepressants, make an appointment with a psychiatrist or your primary-care physician.

10 Reasons Why Men Cheat

Men who engage in sexual and romantic entanglements after making a vow of monogamy do so for a variety of underlying psychological reasons:

1. He’s a liar. He never intended to be monogamous, despite his commitment. He doesn’t understand that his vow of fidelity is a sacrifice made to and for his relationship and the person he professes to love. This man views monogamy as something to be worked around rather than embraced.

2. He is insecure. Deep down, he feels that he is too young, too old, too fat, too thin, too poor, too stupid, or too whatever to be desirable. He uses flirtation, porn, and extramarital sex as a way to feel better about himself, to reassure himself that he is still desirable, worthwhile, and “good enough.”

3. He is immature. He thinks that as long as his partner doesn’t find out, he’s not hurting anybody. He doesn’t understand that significant others almost always know when something is up. He doesn’t “get” that his partner will eventually find out what’s been going on, and when that occurs, it won’t be pretty.

4. He is damaged. Perhaps he is acting out early
trauma experiences, such as physical abuse, neglect, or sexual abuse. His formative wounds have left him unable or unwilling to fully commit himself to another person. He may also seek sexual intensity outside his relationship as a way to self-medicate (escape from) his emotional and psychological pain.

5. He has unreasonable expectations. He believes that his spouse should meet his every sexual and emotional need, 24/7, without fail. In his
narcissistic and self-focused way, he doesn’t understand that his spouse may be juggling multiple priorities (kids, work, home, finances) in addition to him and the relationship. When this spouse inevitably fails him (in his view), he feels entitled to seek intimate attention elsewhere.

6. He is bored, overworked, or otherwise put-upon (in his mind), and feels deserving of something special that is just for him —hiring prostitutes, viewing porn, or having affairs. Or maybe he wants more attention from his mate and thinks a period of pulling away will cause her to comply.

7. He is confused about love. He mistakes
limerence— the “rush” of early romance—with love. He does not understand that in truly loving relationships, the early, visceral attraction is gradually replaced by sweeter feelings of longer-term attachment, honesty, commitment, and emotional intimacy.

8. He is addicted. Perhaps he has an ongoing, problematic relationship with alcohol or drugs that affects his decision-making and disinhibits him. He may also have an issue with sexual compulsivity, meaning he uses sexual activity as a way to self-soothe, escape uncomfortable emotions, and dissociate from the pain of underlying psychological conditions.

9. He wants out. He is looking to end his current relationship and is using external sexual and romantic activities to give his wife or girlfriend “the message” without having to be direct. Or, if he is a man who doesn’t like being alone,
period, then finding a new and “better” person before leaving a current relationship provides a safer and softer landing.

10. He lacks male bonding and a peer community.
Having undervalued his healthy need to maintain solid, supportive friendships and community with other men, his reaction to a busy or distracted spouse is all the more injurious—as he expects all of his emotional and physical needs to be met by this one person
