'I will be king of Nigeria if I win the FA Cup' - Watford striker Odion Ighalo

Super Eagles of Nigeria and Watford FC of England striker Odion Ighalo has bragged that he will be dubbed 'king of Nigeria' if he wins the F.A Cup.
Watford alongside Everton, Man U, and Crystal Palace are in the semi- finals of the English F.A Cup with Watford's game to be played on Sunday, and Ighalo says winning the F.A cup will be an illustrious end to the season after rejecting a £10m move to China last year.
''I chose my dream first before money,”
“Though I am not rich, I am blessed,” Ighalo, a devout Christian, says. “I know in the future I can make more money if I do well so I keep cool. I want to prove myself.'' Ighalo told The Telegraph UK.
“I believe in God and I prayed when I faced that situation. I am happy that I turned it down and it’s really helped me grow as a person. Yes, it was big money. A lot of money. But I want to keep going in my career. This is a dream come true so to leave the Premier League and go to China was not the right thing.
“And I know I can earn good money here if I prove myself. Maybe other offers will come, maybe with even more money but I have four more years of contract here after this season and I am happy. I’m improving. When I joined Watford I thought they had what it takes to get promoted to the Premier League. That’s why I joined. I wanted that opportunity.”
“If I win the FA Cup then I will be going back like a king! King of Nigeria!,”
“The fans want it and we want it.
“This is a big competition here in England. Now we are safe in the Premier League and although we want to do better this semi-final is a very big thing. It’s a chance for people to have a look at us and understand how we have done.
“Not every team in the Premier League can win it but they can win the FA Cup. No-one gave Watford a chance of being where we are today but we are there now and it’s possible for us to win and go to the final.”
He added: “As a footballer it is all the more special because it is played at Wembley, a great stadium, the great stadium of English football and one that I have not played in before. So that means a lot.
“The fans are happy also because they can say they will have a team in the Premier League next season and they have this semi-final.
“If we play the way we can play we will be able to give them a final to look forward to as well. It would be a dream come true.”
“I watched the finals – I remember big teams like Manchester United and Chelsea playing at Wembley so it means a lot to me to have the chance to get to a final,” Ighalo says. “And I’ve never played in a cup final before, not at any level, not even as a boy, never.”

EVENT : RISE OF GIANTS IN MASAKA

Sometime ago by divine privilege, I was made to see an aspect of God's end time agenda for the Church, and it has fully begun!
1. From the most unlikely folks you know, God is raising an Army of Preachers of global repute overnight.
2. God is raising an Army of Female Giants after the order of Deborah (Judges 4:3-9), and Kathryn Kulman.

Furthermore, we shall begin see supernatural manifestations in the lives of believers, the kind that the world has never known. The ultimate purpose among others, is to pave the way for the second coming of Christ; for He shall return for a Church in absolute dominion (see Zech. 8:23, Isa. 60:22, Joel 2:1-11, 28-30, Mic. 4:1-2, Isa. 2:2-3, Isa. 9:6). Nevertheless, all Giants in scriptures were made by instructions (Deut. 28:1, Exo. 4:17).

Therefore, RISE OF GIANTS shall also be a mountain of instructions, and as the LORD liveth, there shall be the rise of an Army of Giants in Masaka.

Children who live in IDPs are too many - Buhari

President Buhari said he will not be discouraged to rescue the future of the children, despite their huge numbers. He said this necessitated the need for data collation on the internally displaced children.

Nigeria’s number one citizen said: “We have frightening indices of the number of people and the situation in the IDP camps across the country. And in spite of the government’s efforts and the hospitality of individuals and organizations, the situation needs better handling. A large segment of the IDPs are mostly women and children. Some of the children are orphaned and don’t know where they came from.

“Now we are working on getting a comprehensive data of all the people in the camps so that the government and NGOs will be properly briefed on where and how to support them.”

The president said he has so much plan ahead for the displaced persons, in which integrating them into the Ministry of Agriculture, as local farmers, is one of the topmost plans, as he will leave no stone unturned, in order to see that none of them have memory of the Boko Haram insurgency, they suffer for some years.

Apart from re-integrating the internally displaced persons, there is good news regarding rescuing the Chibok girls because, the UN promised to support Nigeria by all means, adding that it will not rest until the girls are all freed.

Man to die for killing Fulani

The Supreme Court on Friday, April 22, passed death sentence on James Afolabi, who had earlier had the same judgement passed upon him, by the high court in Kogi state and later the Court of Appeal.

The Apex Court made it known that there was no reason it will interfere in the simultaneous result of the case at the lower courts.

Afolabi, an indigene of Kogi state, was investigated and was found to be guilty of murdering a Fulani indigene in the person of one Abubakar Mohammed in Lokoja, the state capital in 2012. Therefore the Kogi state high court passed death sentence on him.

It was through the convict’s confessional statement that the lower court relied upon as gotten from the police. He was said to have shot the deceased on the chest on February 27, 2009, because the latter was wandering about on his yam and cassava plantation.

On Friday, April 22, Justice John Inyang Okoro in an appeal court judgement marked SC/181/2012, ruled on the Court of Appeal judgement of Abuja on March 22, 2012, stating that, through the witness, there was enough evidence, “which gave vent to the confession of the appellant.

“And in any case, this court held in Mohammed v State (2007) 11 NWLR (pt 1045) 303 at 230 paragraph F that where an accused person confesses to a crime, in the absence of an eye witness of the killing, he can be convicted on his confession alone.

“For all I have said, I hold a strong view that the court below was on a strong wicket when it upheld the conviction and sentencing of the appellant upon reliance on his confessional statements.”

The judge further said:
“In the instant case, the appellant states emphatically, in Exhibit D (confessional statement), adjudged to have been freely and voluntarily made, that he aimed his gun at the chest of the deceased at close range and shot him. It was his further evidence that the deceased fell down and could not move again. At that point, he ran to the village head and reported that he had killed a man.

“In the circumstance, did he intend to kill the man? I had earlier stated in this judgment that a person is taken to intend that natural and probable consequences of his act.

“So, when the appellant aimed his gun at the chest of the deceased and shot it, did he intend to keep him alive? I do not think so. At least he intended to cause him grievous bodily harm.

“And, in view of the force of a gunshot aimed at the heart, the engine room of a man’s life, it can safely be concluded that the appellant intends to kill the deceased on his action, the report he made to the village head notwithstanding.”

Despite the alleged killings of some Fulani in the Southeastern states, the herdsmen have been criticised lately for the violent attacks.

Woman who burned her newborn baby alive sentenced to 30 years in jail

A 23 year old New Jersey woman, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier who hid her pregnancy from her family, gave birth and set her newborn daughter on fire in January 2015 and left her in the middle of a street to burn to death. Fortunately, a neighbour saw her, called the Police tried to save the baby by covering her in a towel and then held her down Dorvilier until the Police arrived. Dorvilier was found with a gas canister and lighter in her pockets.According to authorities, the baby was found with her umbilical cord and placenta still attached and had third-degree burns over 60 percent of her bod. She died two hours after she was flown to a Philadelphia hospital. Autopsy reports confirmed that the infant died of smoke inhalation and and burns.

Dorvilier pleaded guilty in February to aggravated manslaughter and was sentenced on Friday to 30 years in prison.
While handcuffed and shacked in court on Friday, she said:

"I was on a downward spiral. I believe I hit my rock bottom,". "I apologize first and foremost for not giving my daughter, Angelica, the life she deserved. She deserved so much better."

Police said they responded to a call about a fire on a road in the township, near Philadelphia and that when they arrived at the scene, they found the neighbor holding Dorvilier down on the ground and the baby wrapped in a smoldering towel and paper.
Dorvilier's sister, Dejennie, pleaded with Judge Terrence Cook for leniency, saying that Dorvilier needed help. But the judge said the punishment was "the sentence that justice requires."
He said:

"The crime in this case was committed against the weakest of the weak, a helpless newborn," Cook said. "All she knew was the extreme excruciating pain of being set on fire by her mother, the person who was supposed to love and protect her."

Burlington County Prosecutor Robert Bernardi said:
"This was an atrocious act, and one that was entirely preventable given our state's law that allows someone to anonymously give up an unwanted infant,".

Witnesses to the baby burning homicide told police that Hyphernkemberly poured flammable liquid on her newborn daughter before setting the infant on fire.
“It was just horrible. Like nothing you’ve ever seen,” neighbor David Joseph told the media.

Joseph added that due to the woman’s apparently calm demeanor, he thought she was just dumping trash after stepping out of her Land Rover.
“We saw the fire and thought someone was burning trash,” he added.

When Joseph’s wife realized a baby was burning alive, she screamed and Dorvilier attempted to run away from the area but David Joseph managed to hold her down until the police arrived. A makeshift memorial for the baby burned alive still stands where the homicide took place.

“It was just mind boggling. It was nightmare even if you have a strong heart. Hopefully she’ll pay for it,” Joseph concluded

Former FIFA Official Mayne-Nicholls Ban Has Been Reduced

Former FIFA official Harold Mayne-Nicholls has had a seven-year football ban reduced to three years on appeal, the FIFA appeal committee said on Friday.

The committee ruled on Friday that the original ban imposed on the former head of the FIFA evaluation committee by football governing body’s ethics committee was too harsh.

Mayne-Nicholls, 54, had been under investigation in connection with the awards to Russia and Qatar of the World Cups in 2018 and 2022 respectively.

The ethics committee had ruled that Mayne-Nicholls, also a former president of the Chilean Football Association, asked for personal favours in connection with one of the bids.(dpa/NAN)

Troops Arrest Top Boko Haram Leaders

Amidst massive raid of camps and ammunition dumps of Boko Haram across northern and central parts of Borno State, troops of the Nigerian Army have arrested four notorious leaders of the Islamic insurgency group responsible for recent attacks in that region, Army officials said.
This came after what seemed a very busy Thursday for various formations of the Army currently executing the counterinsurgency operations during which 18 Boko Haram insurgents were gunned down in seven major raid operation across the border settlements of Borno state.
Large amounts of money allegedly used by the Boko Haram to recruit new members were also recovered during the operation.
On Thursday, soldiers rescued more than 200 civilians, mostly aged persons, women and children that had been under the captivity of insurgents.
Spokesman of the Nigeria Army, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, had, in two seperate statements released yesterday said a large ammunition cache were also recovered.
He said, “Troops of 3 Battalion, of 22 Task Force Brigade have made an unprecedented catch with the arrest of 4 Boko Haram terrorists Ameers (kingpins) at Rann, headquarters of Kala Balge Local Government Area today, Friday 22nd April 2016”, said Colonel Usman.
“The arrested kingpins specialized on various aspects of criminality to sustain the Boko Haram terrorists group in their areas.
“The four terrorists were arrested following a tip off by well meaning members of the public.
“Subsequently, the troops conducted a cordon and search operation in the general area that led to the apprehension of the terrorist leaders, who contribute to the sustenance of the insurgency through their illegal trade specialization.
“The arrested kingpins include Umara Mai Gyaran Rediyo (Radio Technician), Umaru Mai Nama, (who specialize in cattle rustling and sales), Alifa Makinta (a specialist on stealing foodstuffs) and Balu Jugudum (in charge of stolen jewelleries)”.
He said presently, the suspects whose names are yet to be disclosed, for avoidance of jeopardising operatuon, are undergoing interrogation.
On the Thursday feat achieved by the troops, Colonel Usman said.
“On Thursday, 21st April 2016, troops of 21 Brigade Nigerian Army carried out clearance operations at Bulari, Tori 1, 2 and 3 during which they successfully cleared the general area of remnants of Boko Haram terrorists.
“During the operation, 10 terrorists were killed and one was captured alive. Unfortunately, 2 Civilian JTF accompanying the troops lost their lives. The troops rescued 7 civilians and recovered a Volkswagen Golf car, 15 bicycles and various bags of foodstuffs.
“The troops of 22 Brigade on the other hand intercepted 26 persons comprising mostly women and children, coming towards Adah village in Ngala local government area of Borno State, who on interrogation stated that they were held hostage by Boko Haram terrorists, but escaped as their captors were moving towards Lake Chad general area because of troops presence.
“Similarly, troops of the same Brigade carried out a fighting patrol, cordon and search operation on Thursday 21st April 2016, along Dikwa-Marte road, Kaje, Selenge, Manekura, Mane Gana and Gawayi villages. Although there wasn’t any encounter with the terrorists, the troops recovered 5 motorcycles, 6 Boko Haram terrorists flags and 4 bags of grinded corn in Mane Gana village.
“They also rescued 3 women and 5 children at the same village. The rescued persons told the troops that their husbands were actually Boko Haram terrorists who have ran away towards Lake Chad area due to immense pressure from the military clearance operations.
“On their part, troops of 3 Battalion also conducted patrol towards Diema, Sigel and Kala in which they had an encounter with Boko Haram terrorists in which the gallant troops killed 8 of them and recovered 2 Dane Guns and 4 assorted batteries.
“The troops of 7 Division Special Fighting Forces attached to 25 Task Force Brigade Damboa, at a checkpoint, arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist, Abubakar Bello and 6 other suspects carrying 28 gallons of “Turkey” brand of vegetable oil, 8 bags of flour, 130 crates of soft drinks and 2 bags of sugar. In addition, 5 mobile telephone handsets, 1 external hard drive and 5 flash drives, 2 national identity cards and the sum of Seventy Thousand Naira (N70,000.00k) only were recovered from him.
He said preliminary investigation discovered that the insurgents now dilute the vegetable oil with other substances to produce diesel to power their generators.
“The troops of 254 Task Force Battalion in conjunction with vigilantes and Borno Youths Empowerment Scheme (BOYES), also carried out clearance operations at Mufurundi, Kaleri, Masemari, Bego, Bale, Gadzama and Gagantilo villages along Damboa-Bale-Gwoza road. During the operation, the troops encountered and detonated an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), buried by the terrorists at Gadzama village. They also encountered Boko Haram terrorists at Bego where they engaged the terrorists, neutralized them and cleared their camps within the general area. In the encounter, the troops killed 9 Boko Haram terrorists and recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number TH5712 and 17 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition. They also rescued 157 persons held hostages by the terrorists.
“The troops of 26 Task Force Brigade stationed in Gwoza yesterday also intercepted 8 suspected Boko Haram terrorists, trying to enter Gwoza town. Though they claimed to be farmers coming from Shiadawey, Takwala and Amdaga Madachi villages respectively, which were known terrorists hideouts, preliminary investigations showed that they were indeed terrorists on a recruitment drive. This was made manifest when the sum of Six Hundred and Thirty Seven Thousand (N637,000.00k) Naira was discovered on Abdullahi Yakubu who was identified by another escapee/suspected Boko Haram terrorist as having trading links with the terrorists while the others were confirmed to have participated in carrying out various terrorists acts for the Boko Haram terrorists group.
“Similarly, one Ibrahim Bute aged 67 years, of Gobara village was arrested by the troops on suspicion of being a Boko Haram kingpin.
“The troops of 117 Task Force Battalion following a tip off, also arrested a suspected Boko Haram terrorist who gave his name as Bello Isah at Mugulvu village. The unit also discovered and retrieved 29 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) rounds of ammunition hidden at a farm in Gella village”, said Colonel Usman, an Acting Director Army Public Relations.

Fuel Scarcity: Black Marketers Defy El-Rufai’s Ban, Return To Streets

Fuel vendors also known as black marketers have defiled the Kaduna State ban on sale of Premium Motor Spirit popularly called petrol in jerry-cans and other containers.

The Kaduna State government had after its security council meeting banned the sale of the scarce commodity in jerry cans.
Our Correspondent observed that the black marketers have continued sale of fuel in jerry-cans along major streets of Kaduna State.

A tour of some parts of Kaduna metropolis shows that areas like the Warf road, Tudun Wada, Hayin Banki, Kawo, Kigo road, Mando, Station round about, Barnawa, Television and Sabo have heavy presence of petrol black marketers.

Speaking with one of the black marketers who gave his name as Awalu at Waff road in Kaduna metropolis said, ‘’We are suffering at home, I don’t even have money to start another business so we just came back on our own.’’

‘’We the black marketers are not the primary cause of fuel scarcity, it is the government but the government wants to punish us for their failures, this is not fair, even some vehicle owners are happy that we are coming back,’’ he added.

Earlier in the month, the Kaduna State Government in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to Governor Nasir el-Rufai on Media and Publicity, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, said the decision was taken at state security council meeting presided by the governor.
The statement noted that security agencies had been directed to arrest and prosecute anyone found violating the ban as well as outright confiscation of any petroleum products found in their possession.

It stated that, “Noting the difficulties imposed by the current petrol scarcity, the council appealed to citizens to remain patient and assured the public that the state government is working with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) and other agencies to reduce the hardship associated with the shortage of petroleum products.
