Buhari will sign 2016 budget this week – Osinbajo

President Muhammadu Buhari will assent to the 2016 budget this week.
His deputy, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, said this yesterday at a non-denominational conference tagged “Platform” sponsored by the Covenant Christian Centre, Abuja.
“The budget will become operational in the next few days,” Osinbajo assured.

Osinbajo also reacted to comments by Nigerians who have been questioning whether the change they voted for was a mere campaign slogan to attract votes.
“People now wonder where is the change that formed the crux of our electioneering campaigns.
“But they fail to understand that patience is also a virtue that they must have as a people,” he said.

If my wife tries to change me, I will send her back to her family, collect my bride price – Denrele Edun

Nigerian television presenter and model, born Adenrele Oluwafemi Edun, popularly called Denrele, says he is dying to get married, noting that he would not get married to someone who would try to change who and what he is.

The controversial showbiz character, whose alleged marriage plans was in the news last year, told the Punch that his marriage plans failed last year because the social media crippled it.
Recall that Denrele got the internet buzzing last year when he promised that he would be getting married soon.
He has however, assured that the original plan was still in place, stressing that the announcement was not a hoax and will never be.
According to him, “I will still get married, honestly, I was supposed to get married last year and I did not plan to publicise the whole affair.
“I intended to tell people few days to the day of the wedding so that they would come and find out who I was getting married to. But somehow, the news leaked and there was too much media hype around it.
“At a point, it began to look as if I fabricated the story to be in the news but it was the real deal for me. I am trying to pursue the matter but I am not going to say when it would happen.
“When it is time, people would get the invite but I would not blab. I am going to get married in Nigeria because I have realised over time that I am loved by all. I would not do a strictly VIP crowd because I would invite everybody who is interested in coming, they should come and watch me get married.”
Although he declined revealing the identity of the woman with whom he’ll be tieing the nuptial nuts, the model said, “My fiancée is not in the entertainment industry. She used to be in the industry but quit because she could not come to terms with the industry so she decided to do a regular 9-5 job.
“Relationship is all about communication, if anyone tries to change who I am, I would send the person back to her family house and collect my bride price back. It cannot happen because at the end of the day, we would be hungry at home and start looking at ourselves.
“Marriage would not change me. I know that there is that factor of staying true to one person which I am working on. I am getting there,” the 33-year-old added.

Senate President seeks renewed dedication of workers

President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki, on Sunday urged Nigerian workers to be more committed in their service to the nation, especially at this time of economic strain.

This is contained in a statement signed by Yusuph Olaniyonu, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the President of the Senate.
According to the statement, Saraki says that the growth and development of Nigeria depends on how much support workers give to government's policies, programmes and projects.

He commended Nigerian workers and the organised labour movement in the country for their contributions to the nation's economic growth and overall development.
He said from the pre-independence era till now, the labour movement had provided the backbone for the survival of the country.
He reiterated his promise that the Senate would continue to partner with the leadership of the organized labour in the country to address issues of national importance.

``No doubt we are not in the best of times as a nation but with cooperation, dedication and perseverance we can turn our economy around for good.

``The contribution of every Nigerian worker is key to the realisation of this dream.
``This is why I urge you to remain steadfast and faithful to the efforts being made by the present administration to revive the economy and put Nigeria on the path of growth,” he said.

He also prayed that the economic recovery programmes of President Buhari would soon bring prosperity to all workers and the entire citizenry.

"TeeBillz and Tiwa Savage, una fall my hand no be small" - Charly Boy writes

Charly Boy says he usually stays away from making comments on people's private lives but he had to make an exception in Tiwa and TeeBillz's case. Read what he wrote below...
"I must confess that my heart breaks a little each time I hear/read about celebrities who self distruct because they couldn't handle Fame or the ones whose marriages are falling apart, because they don't know how to hold it down. Its sad, especially if they are amongst stars that I admire and love" he writes.
Commenting on people's private lives is a no go area for me. But when celebrities wash their dirty linen in public I owe my reading fans to comment on trending news and issues. TeeBillz and Tiwa Savage una fall my hand no be small.
Una no know say MUTUAL RESPECT IS NON-NEGOTIABLE for marriage, why yeye una self for public like this.
Una no know say competition na for business no be for marriage what's the bullshit
Haba, una no just try.
I know that artiste/celebrities are more fragile than normal people. However they must understand that they are role models to millions of people, so no matter how deep you are hurting, you need to always come out strong. Celebs must understand that their private life is their private life and they must keep it to themselves. It will earn them more respect that way.
I know that people stay married because they want to not because the door is locked.
Biko keep your shit to yourselves, keep private private.
No marriage can escape bad weather even my own, I dey sometimes see Oba for the matter but like I say "marriage is not about being compatible but how couples deal with their incompatibility. Make I no hear una problems for loudspeakers again, joor.
AreaFada done talk him own."

Bishop weds 109 couples in Nassarawa State (PHOTO)

Most Rev. Mathew Audu, the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday in Masaka joined 109 couples in a mass wedding in the state.

Speaking during his third pastoral visit to St. Martin`s Catholic Church, Masaka, Audu appealed to relatives of the new couples to allow them to build their marriages and not interfere in their private lives.
“As newly wedded couples, you must love each other just as Christ Jesus loved the church and died to set souls free,” the priest said.
“You must respect each other’s feelings; care for each other, share views and reason together in peace and unity.
“You must not allow a third party to come into your matter; always invite God to intervene in your case.
“Ensure that you are coordinated in all your dealings and make the word of God your standard, your pillar, your faith and your hope.
“If you can keep these entire commandments, your marriage will be perfect and other couples will want to copy from you,” he said.
