Nigeria’s president Muhammadu Buhari, has today, June
29, appointed Colonel Hamidu Ali, as his Chief of Staff, Omojuwa.com
reports.
The status of the former military administrator of Kaduna state was also immediately updated by Wikipedia, where it was stated that “he is currently the Chief of Staff to president Muhammadu Buhari” as there are limited sources to confirm the appointment.
Thus, reports linking immediate past governor of Lagos state, Babatunde Fashola, to the coveted post may have been laid to rest as Sahara Reporters, via its twitter handle, also confirmed the new appointment.
Contrary to the reports above, a BBC hausa reporter has alleged that presidential spokesperson, Garba Shehu, has denied the appointment of Ali as the chief of staff to the president.
The presidency has now officially denied reports that the president Buhari has named his chief of staff, with Femi Adesina, another presidential spokesperson, revealing that no appointment had been made.
According to Premium Times, Femi Adesina said: “no appointment yet”, and refused to comment further.
Buhari is still under fire for the delay in announcing the members of his cabinet after about thirty days in office.
