Smiles as Benue workers get first salary in 5 months

Benue workers are indeed smiling to the bank as many have began receiving their salary for May 2015. The last time Benue workers were paid salary was on the 22nd of January 2015 when former President Goodluck Jonathan visited the state for election campaign.
Benue State Governor, Dr Samuel Ortom few days ago, promised to pay workers two months salaries; May first, and June after a thorough staff audit to flush out ghost workers in order to reduce the wage bill.
What remains to be seen is whether the striking unions in the state will be satisfied with just one months salary. However a reliable source told BENUE.COM.NG reporters that a two month salary package is being arranged for the union workers especially those of the Benue State University chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU who have been on strike since early March.
The source added that the Governor has been in touch with the leaders of the unions and a point of compromise has been reached on the modalities of ending the strike in the following days subject to the ASUU congress resolution
