Senior Civil Servants give Ministry of Industry 21-day strike notice

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria(ASCSN), Federal Ministry Industry, Trade and Investmentchapter, has given a 21-day strike notice to its management.
A statement signed by Mr Isaac Ojemhenkeon behalf of the Secretary-General of the association, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja, said that the notice took effect from Oct. 8, 2015.
It said that the action became imperative to ensure that the abuse of extant rules and procedures in service, abuse of the scheme of service and acts of insurbodination were addressed.
It noted that there had been an attempt to "remove demarcation between the Registrar (Trademark and Patent) cadre and other cadres" in the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment in 2012.
This, the statement said, constituted an abuse of the scheme of service which structured the public service into cadres for the purpose of professionalism.
The statement further said that Mr Adekunle Adeyemi, who had been redeployed to the Federal Ministry of Water Resources by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation through circular OHCSF/CMO/EMD/002/S.I/T/II dated Sept. 4, 2015, had "vowed not to proceed on the posting.
"The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment refused to enforce the deployment circular while Mr Adekunle O. Adeyemi, has vowed not to proceed on posting since 2oth September, 2015, against Public Service Rules Cap 030301 (b) and (m)."
It noted that the non-enforcement of the deployment circular by the acting permanent secretary, in spite of several meetings with the association on the need for him to enforce discipline signified that "he accepted tacitly, the insurbodinate act of Adekunle’".
"The association has resolved that the deployment of Adeyemi from the Commercial Law Department should be enforced and his violation of Public Service Rule should be sanctioned," it stated.
It also urged Adeyemi to comply with the OHCSF posting instruction and hand over to the most senior officer in the Registrar (Trademark Patent) cadre in line with the Act and scheme of service.
"In the event Adeyemi refuses to do the needful at the deadline set, we, as a union, have decided to shut down the office of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment nationwide to press our demand," it added.

US considering visa ban, financial sanctions against ex-minister, 12 others

The United States of America is reportedly considering the implementation of a visa ban or financial sanctions against former Nigerian Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The proposed measures are also expected to affect a dozen others including some of Alison-Madueke’s associates, oil officials and politicians.

This was revealed to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) by US officials who also said that Washington was investigating whether the former minister’s associates laundered money in the US, the UK and other countries.

“We continue to work with Nigeria to fight corruption,” a State Department official said according to WSJ.

Mrs Alison Madueke has been the centre of international attention since October 2, 2015, when her London home was raided by police.

Police officers in Nigeria also barricaded her home in Abuja hours after the London operation began.

Unconfirmed reports have it that the former oil minister is being suspected of laundering a whopping ‎£13 billion from the country’s coffers.

Oscar Onwudiwe, a lawyer speaking on Alison-Madueke’s behalf, however told WSJ that she was invited by the police in London but not arrested as widespread media reports have claimed.

“If the police come to your house for any reason, does it make you a criminal?” Onwudiwe asked.

No official charges have been filed against the former oil minister.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he would head Nigeria’s oil sector as substantive minister in a bid to sanitize it.

4 Things to note before buying a Laptop

Be it Mac or Windows, there are several things you should consider before buying a Laptop.
No one wants a beautifully designed system or one that has a very high hard drive space that hangs for hours.

Here are 4 things you should consider before buying a Laptop:

1. When it comes to a computer device, always focus on the speed.
Most individuals focus on the hard drive space, because they plan on storing photos, songs, games, movies etc. on their new device.
But shall it profit you if you have a lots of space, but have to wait for several hours before an application loads?
The trick is if you want your device to be fast, you have to buy a fast storage.
Anything from 7200rpm (Revolution Per Minute) will do.

2. The RAM matters too.
Don’t buy a Laptopruns with a ram size below 4Gb.
If you happen to be a serious photo/video editor or a gamer who wants lots of fast RAM then make sure you buy a PC with a 64-bit processor and Windows 7 64-bit.
Without getting too technical, the 32-bit version of Windows can’t use more than 4GB of system memory (actually less, thanks to graphics) so you need a 64-bit system if you plan to buy more than 4GB of system memory.

3. Processors
Say NO to Intel Pentium processors, gone are the days when they were the best money could buy.
We are now in the Intel Core series era, you should try the second generation series… Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7.

4. Never overlook the Keyboard and touchpads
Although processors, RAM and the hard drive speed makes a big difference in the performance of a laptop, however these two output devices are something you will be using throughout the existence of the device.
The best laptop keyboards are the ones with firm support underneath the entire keyboard structure.
Considering that you might be need to type in a low light or dark room, you should buy a laptop with LED-Backlit keyboards
The best touchpads have excellent sensitivity and minimal lag so the cursor on the screen moves precisely along with your fingertip on the touchpad. Larger touchpads are generally a good thing (particularly if you plan on using multi-touch gestures on the touchpad surface).

University of Ilorin “needs more money” — VC

The Vice Chancellor of the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Professor Abdulganiyu Ambali, has said the institution is in need of funds to execute important projects as it celebrates its 40th anniversary this month.
In an interview with Daily Trust, the Vice Chancellor said the university has a number of important projects it needs to execute.
"The university needs more money," Ambali said.

"I think that is the usual thing because we have, in our plans, a few projects that we need to execute.
"For instance, we want a self-sell laboratory which costs some money because self-sell research is the state of the art research that needs a separate infrastructure, as well as the equipment to drive it."

He noted that the institution plans to be more financially stable and relevant to society in the coming years.

"I foresee a more buoyant University of Ilorin in a few years to come; a university that would be able to make more impact in the society and make more money for itself."
UNILORIN, located in the ancient city of Ilorin, capital of Kwara State, was established in 1975 as a University College affiliated to the University of Ibadan (UI).

Why Don't Boys Like You

You are extremely pretty and intelligent and you seem to have all what it takes to charm any boy. But yet boys don't like you. And you believe to wonder why don't boy like you?

There are so many girls in this kind of situation. They are attractive and yet boys do not approaches them. Emily was beautiful but she had a problem. She said "Many boys showed interest in me but after a while they left." If you are a lady in this kind of situation what will you think?

Without been told, you should know the boys aren't the problem. You are your own problem. There are things a girl do that attract boys to her and also sends them away. So ladies read on to know how you can catch or attract the attention of a decent young man.

What you should do

# Work on your own heart and mind

You may light a boy so much and you want him. But when you are so quick to give him your heart, you risk the possibility of getting him. Many boys are simply interested in a lady's body. When they are done with the body they leave. A good decent boy will be after your personality and traits. He loves a girl who have good goals. Good goals involves knowing what you want to do with your life.

# Cultivate respect for others

Girls want to be loved and boys want to be respected. So when you develop respect for him and others you will make him attracted to you. Man value respect more than love. Respect is their ego. So if you are a lady who doesn't show respect for boys, you always talk down and challenge them, be sure that boys wont like you.

Being respectful doesn't mean you are weak or surrendering yourself. It doesn't mean you shouldn't have to your own opinion or express yourself. You can give opinion or express yourself but be mindful how you do so. This will determine if any young man will be attracted to you or will find you repulsive.

#Dress decently and have good hygiene

Appearance matters a lot. It is the first thing people notice about you. People use dressing and grooming to discern your inner thought and attitudes. Modest dressing sends a positive message while sloppy or provocative dressing sends negative message.

Your makeup counts! Heavy makeup send portrays you to be desperate for attention or even conceited. Revealing clothes attracts the bad boys and repels the good boys. Make sure your hair is well kept. Make sure you smell nice and never wear clothes that reveals cleavage or hairy armpit.

What you shouldn't do

#Do not flirt

Women are very influential than men which can either be for good or for bad. If you try to use such power of manipulation on every boy, you will be seen as a flirt. Many girls touch their shoulders or twirl their hair while having conversing with a boy. Doing this constantly will only make you appear to be a flirt. Also, touching constantly the arms of every boy you meet paint you as a flirt.

#Do not be clingy

As as you are not yet married you have no full right over anyone. So a boy has no full accountability toward you. Therefore never police him wanting to know where he goes, who he is calling etc. Never prevent him from associating with his male friends. Many girls do this. No boy whether good or bad will find you attractive if you are clingy or possessive.

Lastly never lower your standard just because you want to gain the attention or approval of a boyfriend. The honest truth is all boys cannot like but all boys finds you unattractive, then you should work on yourself.
