FG To Generate Four Billion On Travel Costs

 

The Federal Ministry of Finance has revealed plans to generate four Billion Naira on travel cost.
The Ministry noted that its efficiency unit has engaged in negotiations with local and international airlines for discounts to commensurate with the large number of ticket purchases made annually by the government.
According to the Ministry, the savings generated will increase funding available to the government for capital investment.
With estimated savings of approximately four billion Naira, the Finance Ministry has asked the efficiency unit to make travel a key focus area for cost cutting and generation of savings.

Nigeria To Establish Technology Development Bank

 

The Nigerian government plans  to establish a Science and Technology Development Bank, a government official said on Tuesday.

According to the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, the bank would assist the informal sector to close the technological gap and give financial assistance for research and innovation activities.
The Minister made the announcement at a meeting with the National Association of Motor Mechanics and Technicians in Abuja.
He told the gathering that the ministry had commenced the process of establishing the bank, with a view to implementing a venture capital component to improve the process of technological development.

The Serbian defender also revealed his choice of the club’s next manager between Ryan Giggs and Jose Mourinho, with Louis Van Gaal most likely leaving the club in the summer.
“I like the idea of Giggsy, but Mourinho has had success in the past,” he said. “It’s a hard choice. Is Giggsy ready or not? He knows. The club knows. I believe they will have an honest conversation.”

Nigeria Police Academy, NPA admission application form for the 4th regular course is now on sale for the 2016/2017 academic session. Admission into the Academy is open to both male and female Nigerians of good character.

Nigeria Police Academy (NPA),  Wudil, Kano is inviting suitably qualified  Nigerian citizens for admission into it 4^th Regular Course degree programmes for the 2016/2017 academic session.

Nigeria Police Academy Admission Requirements.

a. Candidates seeking admission into the Academy must be Nigerian citizens and must be between 17 and 22 years of age, and must have a height of not less than 1.67 Metres (5 Feet 6 Inches) if male, and 1.62 Metres (5 Feet 4 Inches) if female. In addition, male candidates must have an expanded chest size of not less than 91cm (36 Inches). All candidates must be free from any physical deformity or mental disability.
b. Candidates must have obtained a minimum of SIX (6) credits at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) conducted by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Examinations Council (NECO) or the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) at not more than 2 sittings and including a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics as well as subjects relevant to the candidate’s chosen course of study in the Academy.
c.  Candidates must also obtain satisfactory scores in both the written examination and the interview and must pass physical and psychological tests of fitness.
d.  SSCE STATEMENT OF RESULTS OR CERTIFICATES RELATING TO EXAMINATIONS TAKEN BEFORE 2012 WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.

Nigeria Police Academy Admission Method of Application.

Interested Applicants are advised to go to the Nigeria Police Academy’s Website: www.polac.edu.ng in order to obtain or generate Remita Retrieval Reference (RRR) Code.  The RRR code obtained can be used to make payment of N3,000.00 through any commercial Bank Branch in Nigeria. Applicants must, in addition, apply through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board as well as sit for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Candidates need not select the Police Academy as a university of choice in the JAMB form.  However, only candidates who obtained the minimum UTME scores which is to be determined by JAMB and purchased the Academy online application form; will be eligible to sit for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Examination.
Sale of online application forms for admission into the 4^th Regular Course of degree the programme of the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, will commence on Wednesday 16thMarch, 2016 and end on Friday the 17th June, 2016.
SUBMISSION OF APPLICATIONS
 Applications are to be submitted online. On submission of the applications, candidates are required to download Acknowledgement Form. Candidates who obtained the minimum national cut-off marks or above, will be enabled to download and print their examination cards.

NPA Entrance Examination Date, Conditions and Requirements.

   The Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil Selection Examination, may be Computer Based Test (CBT)  or Pencil and Paper.  The examination shall comprise of a General Paper (Section A) which is compulsory for all candidates.  It will cover areas such as general knowledge and current affairs, English Language and Mathematics.  Other sections are to be selected according candidate’s Faculty of choice.  It will be conducted on Saturday the 16th July, 2016. Only candidates who obtained the minimum national cut-off marks or above will be eligible to sit for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Examination at 12 designated Centres. The list of Centres is in the Academy Website.  Eligible candidates are to bring along to the examination venue their Acknowledgement Form, Examination Card, JAMB Result Slip and two Postcard size photographs (3.5×5 Inches) which should show only from the chest upwards. At the back of each of the two Postcard size photographs, the candidates must write their name, State of origin, examination centre and signature.
Only candidates who are successful in the Selection Examination will be invited for the Nigeria Police Academy Selection Board Interview. The list of successful candidates will be published on our website and in some national newspaper

Nature and Duration of NPA 3rd Regular Course.

 Candidates admitted into the Nigeria Police Academy degree course will undergo a combined police and academic training for a minimum period of five years leading to Bachelor’s degrees and commission in the Nigeria Police Force as Assistant Superintendents of Police.

Kogi Poly Closes Campus Indefinitely After Violent Protest

Kogi State Polytechnic, KSP closed indefinitely after violent protest.

Students at the Kogi State Polytechnic (KSP) were told to go home on Tuesday as the institution’s management opted to shut the campus down “indefinitely” in the wake of violent protests.
The Polytechnic Public Relations Officer, Mr Luke Yakubu said that the closure was to prevent loss of lives and property. He also directed all students, including those in hostels to vacate the school premises immediately.
Students of the school went on the rampaged over the alleged killing of a female student by a commercial motor cyclist popularly called okada rider over N50 transport fare.
She died on Tuesday morning at the hospital where she was receiving treatment, a development which prompted the students to embark on protest.
The protest later degenerated as the students commandeered a truck carrying cement products and used it to block the Lokoja-Abuja highway.
According to witnesses, the students later set the truck and two other vehicles and many motorcycles ablaze, a development which completely halted vehicular movement on the road for hours.
Many motorists had to abandon their vehicles to seek refuge in nearby houses and shops as police engaged the protesters.
Kogi state Police Spokesman, ASP William Aya, told pressmen that the situation had been brought under control.
He also said that no arrest was made as the police principally came to pacify the students to leave the highway.

Candidates, Tutorial Owners Protest, Seek Reduction in JAMB Cut Off – Ilorin

Hundreds of admission seekers to the nation’s tertiary institutions and members of Association of Tutorial School Owners of Nigeria protested in Ilorin on Tuesday protested over allegations of shoddy conduct of the examination body which consequently failed the affected candidates for no fault of theirs.
The protesters urged the federal government to wade in and compel JAMB to deliberately reduce the cut off scores because of the anomaly in order to accommodate the interest of the affected candidates.


A member of Tutorial School Owners Association of Nigeria based in ilorin and spokesman for the protesters Mr Olawuyi Olufemi told journalists in an interview that to their dismay, complaints from the affected candidates and their parents indicate that they received different scores in text messages and printout,which ‎reduced in most cases their scores by at least 40marks.
Olufemi also gave graphic details of how computer malfunctions and poor loading of questions and instructions cheated many candidates ‎of their hard earned successes as the questions were not properly loaded,so they could not be answered to time and therefore caused them to fail woefully.
He also said that though their jobs end at training candidates for successful performance in JAMB examinations which they have been doing over the years but ‎had to embark on the protest to bring the matter to the attention of the government more importantly when they are being asked by the parents to refund money they paid for training the candidates.
