Tukur Buratai, the Chief of Army Staff, has on October 28, launched the circulation of large posters carrying photographs of wanted Boko Haram insurgents including the alleged leader of the insurgents, Abubakar Shekau.

The army also said it has freed 200 girls and 93 women from the Sambisa forest, the notorious stronghold of the insurgents.

During the last months Nigerian Armed Forces have taken back most of the territory previously under the control of Boko Haram.

In March this year, Boko Haram pledged its loyalty to Islamic State militants and their caliphate stretched across Iraq and Syria.
President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to halt the sect by December. Nigeria’s homegrown extremist group has responded with a relentless campaign of suicide bombings.

5 Reasons You Should Stop Smoking Weed And Start Juicing It

1. Cannabis leaf juice won’t make you high.
But it will make you healthier! Cannabis juice has a number of incredible healthy properties to them like…

2. Anti-inflammatory properties.
Cannabis is an essential vegetable for our every day lives. Not only do they have anti-cancer compounds, but they help the digestive system absorb the vitamins and minerals in the food you eat as well as decrease inflammation.

3. Cannabis bud juice will make you high.
And it’s considerably safer than smoking cannabis buds. That aside, smoking cannabis is significantly safer than smoking cigarettes. Yuck!

4. Cannabis is versatile.
Don’t like the taste of cannabis juice? Juice it with other vegetables. A personal favorite of mine is carrot apple. It’s sweet, a bit tart, and extra healthy with some cannabis leaves.

5. You can ingest more cannabinoids.
Cannabinoids are the truly healthy compound in cannabis, and when you juice it, you get tons of ’em. Cannabis juice also contains CBDA, a form of CBD.

Alber Elbaz is honoured with the Superstar Award at the Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars

Fashion’s finest gathered at Cipriani Wall Street on Thursday night for Fashion Group International’s Night of Stars.
Hosted by the comical Simon Doonan , the dinner and awards ceremony honored a slew of fashion and entertainment industry figures, including Lanvin designer
Alber Elbaz , who took home the Superstar award.
Meryl Streep presented her friend Elbaz with his award, and the designer delivered a speech — that was both heartfelt and hilarious — in which he talked about everything from his love of movies and large containers of popcorn (‘Films make me dream and laugh’) to the madness of fashion month and bloggers’ need to document everything during the shows.
“During fashion week in Paris, I spoke with a few editors I know, and I asked them, ‘Hey, how are you?’ and they said, ‘Exhausted.’ They said to me that they used to see 50 shows a week. Now they have to see 50 shows a day but [there’s] only 24 hours. I spoke with a few writers in Paris, and they said the same thing. They used to write their reviews in the taxi having an apple, that’s how they gave us their verdict. Now they do it during the show with no apple,” Elbaz said.
“The fashionistas are very, very busying during the show filming everything. When I come out after the show, I feel that there’s no clapping, and I asked what’s going on. They said, ‘They’re filming, they don’t have two hands,'” Elbaz added.
“We live in a time of being photogenic. I was asked the other day if I have a personal Instagram, and I said ‘Not really… I don’t really have photogenic friends. I only have good friends.’ I also don’t take pictures of the food. I eat food,” he said.
Later, he added “We are living today in a smart world. A world of very smart design. Smart thinking. Smart product. Today, a 12-year-old girl in the middle of nowhere living with technology can see all the shows in Paris live. The show, the front row, the backstage, the celebrities. Wow, technology makes her dream come true.”

Eze Ndigbo and desecration of the Igbo culture

THE altercation between the Deji of Akure, Oba Aladetoyinbo Aladelusi and the leader of the Igbo community in the town, Mr. Gregory Iloehike, who doubles as Eze Ndi Igbo Akure, has in no small way brought ridicule and opprobrium to Igbo culture and tradition. Though, the Deji is reported to have pardoned Iloehike, the damage has already been done.
The Igbo have been made a laughing stock by the indiscretion of a few Igbo elements. The impression being created is that there are no established traditional procedures for becoming Eze in Igbo land; any individual who fancies the Eze title anywhere in the world could muster the forces around him to crown himself Eze contrary to the established norm. This is totally embarrassing and unacceptable.
As far as I know, only the late Ikemba Nnewi, Gen. Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, was the only man crowned Eze Igbo Gburugburu because of his historic role in Igbo land. Otherwise, traditional rulers in Igbo land assume Eze of the specific autonomous community they govern. For example, we have Obi of Onitsha and not Obi of Igbo land. Therefore, the title Eze Ndi Igbo in Diaspora is alien to Igbo culture. It is banned and not recognized in Igbo land.
People are wondering what sort of culture the Igbo have that allows any Igbo man to become monarch in Diaspora with commanding influence that sometimes supersedes that of the holders of the real title in the homeland? Questions are being asked as to when this aberration started, who started it, where and why. Our people say Aru gba afo ozama ome n’la (meaning when an absurdity is allowed to fester for a year, it becomes a norm).
While it seems that the Deji of Akure is the first monarch in Yoruba land to react to a burgeoning cultural pervasion that is not in tandem with established Yoruba culture and tradition, the truth is that the purveyors of this strange Igbo culture are not found only in Yoruba land. They are found all over the world – across the neighbouring Republic of Benin, Togo, Ghana and other countries in West Africa.
The other day, I was shocked to hear of Eze Ndi Igbo in far away Bangkok in Thailand. And the same in China. As Igbo people are migratory birds, anywhere they find themselves in reasonable number, one person will rise up to get himself crowned as Eze Ndi Igbo of the particular place.
From that angle, there is no expansionist intent in Eze Ndi Igbo in Yoruba land as being alleged by the Afenifere Renewal Group. Otherwise, does it mean that the Igbo want to conquer the whole world since Eze Ndi Igbo is found worldwide?
In the case of Akure, unconfirmed reports say trouble started when an Igbo was made the chairman of a market in Akure. The people saw it as a taboo for an Igbo man to be installed ruler over a market in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
Consequently, the Deji of Akure summoned the Igbo leader, Iloehike to his palace. On going to the Deji’s palace, Mr. Iloehike reportedly wore his paraphernalia as Eze Ndi Igbo. This infuriated the Deji who felt that it was against the Akure tradition for him to do that. The youths and chiefs present at the palace were also angry with Iloehike and therefore ordered him to remove his crown. The Deji suspended Iloehike as Eze Ndi Igbo.
When the Igbo residents heard about what happened at the palace, especially, about Iloehike’s suspension, trouble sparked off. They resolved not to open their shops for business in protest against Iloehike’s suspension and the order they gave to the monarch to recant the suspension which proved abortive. They warned the Deji against his plan to dethrone the Eze Ndi Igbo, insisting that he had no power to dethrone Iloehike. But the Deji went ahead to ban the “Eze Ndi Igbo” title in Akure land. He ordered that the title should be reviewed and replaced with a non-controversial honorary title.
And to end the crisis for Igbo traders to be free to continue with their businesses, the monarch gave some stringent conditions: One, the dethroned Eze Ndi Igbo must apologise for his unruly behaviour in at least three national dailies as well as go on air to tender apology. Two, Mr. Iloehike must write a letter of apology to the monarch and the Deji-in-Council. Three, the Igbo leader should stop wearing any form of crown and must comply with all the directives of the palace.
However, the embattled Iloehike explained  that he was not rude to the Deji of Akure since he ascended the throne about six months ago, adding that he contributed immensely towards the installation of the monarch. He said that the monarch threatened to drive all the Igbos out of Akure. He said when he asked why the youths descended on him, tore his beads and removed his crown.
Reports say the State Governor, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, in an attempt to broker peace met with the two leaders separately in his office and pleaded with the Akure monarch to forgive the Igbo leader. It was also gathered that the Governor maintained that the Igbo leader could not go against the tradition and custom of the land as there was no basis or constitutional backing for such attitude.
A prominent Yoruba chieftain, Senator Femi Okurounmu said if the Igbo want the Eze Ndi Igbo title to be recognized in Yoruba land, they must also recognise the Oba title in the South-East. I am afraid this can’t be possible because sometime in 2009 or thereabout, the chairman of South East Council of Traditional Rulers and Obi of Obinugwu Autonomous Community in Orlu Local Government Area of Imo State, HRH Eze (Dr.) Cletus Ilomuanya, called for the abolition of the office of Eze Ndi Igbo worldwide, in every community where it exists. The South-East monarchs sent a delegation to the authorities in the South-West to present their position.
The Afenifere Renewal Group commended the Deji for banning Eze Ndi Igbo title in Akure. They said the Igbo communities in Yoruba land don’t need to have another king in the same domain.
The Ohaneze Ndi Igbo has made it clear that Igbo leaders in Yoruba land or elsewhere should not assume the title Eze Ndi Igbo. Instead, they should be called Onye Ndu Ndi Igbo (meaning leader of the Igbo). This counsel should be heeded to avoid plunging Igbo people into another avoidable ethnic crisis with their hosts. The authorities should meet to resolve this matter once and for all before it gets out of hand. A word is enough for the wise.

Unoaku Anyadike is MBGN World 2015

Unoaku Anyadike represented Anambra State at this year’s pageant and after was chosen as the overall winner of the pageant – therefore she is the MBGN 2015 . She will represent Nigeria at the Miss World 2015 pageant which will take place on the 19th of December 2015 at the Crown of Beauty Theatre in Sanya, China.

So, who is Unoaku?

Here is the scoop on the pageant queen.

She’s 21. Unoaku celebrated her birthday on the 16th of September

She is a student of psychology at the University of Ibadan

She has other jobs – Unoaku has been a personal assistant to Nollywood star Enyinna Nwigwe

She participated in MBGN 2014 (as Miss Lagos) but had to drop out due to exams at school

She is from Anambra State (her dad is Igbo and mum is Yoruba). Contestants rarely get to represent their home states but in this case, she actually did

Her answer during the Q&A sealed the deal – we hear that her articulate answer to the question on Climate Change and her reference to the erosion issues in Anambra helped her win points with the judges.

Her role models are Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Millen Magese

She comes from a close knit family – “I’m the last girl out of 5 beautiful girls in my family. We are Christians and from Ekwulobia, Aguata local government in Anambra state. We live in Ile-Ife, Osun state. My father is a Professor in Literature-in-English at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) and my mother is the founder and proprietor of Sunshine Nursery and primary school Ile-Ife, Osun state. My family is the best family in the world and they come first, I wouldn’t trade that for anything.”

She is a Christian – She says “I love to meditate on the word of God” and I am presently reading “How to be lead by the spirit of God” by Kenneth Hagin

She is a blogger – Anyadike has a blog which is focused on positivity and spirituality

Her Favourite Meal is Amala and Ewedu with goat meat and a cold bottle of water

She has a crush on Empire star Jussie Smollett and admires Miss World 2001 Agbani Darego

If She were President, she would…The first thing I’ll do is to try to eradicate poverty, promote education especially the girl child education and make Nigeria one of the developed countries in the world

Male Celebrities In Agbada

A few years back, Agbada was an attire meant for kings, chiefs, rich men and if it was a wedding, it had to be the parents or at least you had to be old. It was so unusual for young men to wear Agbada but that was then.

These days, you don’t have to be 70 years old, rich, or have a title to step out in Agbada. Agbada is now a ‘thing’ for young men, particularly for events. The attire is so elegant it makes any guy look fabulous! If you have not tried it, you will never know how cool it feels.

Still in doubt?

Check out these pictures of celebrities rocking beautifully designed Agbada attires.

Baale Runs Over Student With Car In Lagos

Samuel Olayinka, a seven year old primary one student has been killed by a baale, Chief Spencer Savage after he crushed him with his vehicle.
The Punch reports that the incident happened on Wednesday, October 7 when the traditional ruler drove into Fagba junior grammar school in Iju station. He was trying to park his car but did not know that the boy was behind. He ran over the boy and all attempts to save his life proved abortive.

It was reported that although the school had closed since 1pm, Olayinka was still in the compound till 3pm waiting for his elder sister who was supposed to take him home.
His mother, simply identified as Mama Mary said he was a calm boy who rarely played.
“I was surprised when I learnt he was playing, because he was a reserved child. Most times, I forced him to play at home; he was very calm. His sister normally goes to pick him when she closes from school at 3pm.
“There are supposed to be security guards at the school that regulate the vehicles entering the compound. He was attending a private school before I withdrew him from there when I could no longer afford the fees.
“It was very painful but I have left everything to God. It is a tragedy that I can never forget. I did not know how I got admitted in a hospital when I was told he had died. The baale (Savage) visited me once while I was in the hospital and he paid my hospital bill.”
Savage said he did not drive carelessly but it was unfortunate that the boy was behind his vehicle at the time he was reversing.
“I did not drive recklessly. I did not know he (Olayinka) was behind the car, trying to pick something and I didn’t see him in my rear-view mirror. I rushed him to Ayodele Medical Centre and the doctor tried his best. The doctor said he had an internal hemorrhage.
“I took him to the mortuary and I was subsequently detained at a police station for two days. It was not intentional. I also have children. I wanted to see the principal to discuss my child’s poor performance.”
One of Olayinka’s teachers who spoke on the condition of anonymity said the baale was not aware that the boy was behind his vehicle.
“The baale was not aware that the boy was at the back of his car. I still believe the accident could have been averted if he (baale) was more careful. The back tyre crushed the boy’s head and he died afterwards.
“The incident was reported at the Iju Police Station.

“Besides, his mother should not have allowed a little child like that to wait that long for his sister. Our school closes at 1pm; the mother should have come to pick him herself. The security here is lax. We have only two security guards manning the seven schools. The guards resume by 8am and close at 2pm.
“The school compound has become vulnerable to hoodlums since its fence collapsed. Our pupils are no longer safe from intruders and abductors. These are imminent dangers which need the government’s attention urgently. The seven schools have a population of over 5,000.”
In a related development , a truck crashed into a shopping complex in Ekiti after the brake of the vehicle failed. Fortunately, the shop owners escaped death when the incident happened.
