2 Employees Set House Of Chinese Boss On Fire, Steal His N450k [Photo]

THE greed of 30-year-old Frank Chukwuneye and Abdullahi Zakari, 25, was on steroids, when they conspired to steal N450,000 from their employer, Tom Wu, a Chinese businessman based in Benin city, capital of Edo State.

The evil duo of Chukwuneye and Zakari were employed three months ago by Wu, to serve respectively as his interpreter and security guard.

While Chukwuneye was placed on a monthly salary of N70,000, the Chinese paid Zakari N30,000 per month. He did so regularly.

But demon of greed took hold of their minds and the seed of conspiracy was sown. During the yuletide period, on December 29, Wu withdrew N450,000 from the bank. Upon reaching home, he asked Chukwuneye to put it on the top of the drawer in his bedroom. Later he went out with Chukwuneye.

Meanwhile, as Sunday Sun correspondent gathered from the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chris Ezike, Chukwuneye had conspired with Zakari to steal the money. He gave Zakari the spare key to the bedroom of Wu and told him where to find the money. To ensure his cooperation, he also promised to give him N100,000, and this sealed the conspiracy.

Narrating what happened next, Zakari told Sunday Sun in an interview at the headquarters of the State Criminal Investigation Department, where he and Chuwkuneye are being held in custody, as investigation progresses: “On December 30, 2015 when our Chinese master went out, I went to his bedroom, opened it with the key Frank gave me. I saw the N450,000 where they kept the money on the drawer. I took the N450,000, put in the hollow of a loudspeaker and then set the house on fire.”

Upon learning that his house was on fire, Wu rushed back home. Suspecting foul play, he went to Ugbor Police Station, accompanied by Chukwuneye, to make a formal report to the police.

The case was then transferred to the State CID Benin City, which commenced investigation immediately.

Ezike told Sunday Sun that the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Mr. Chukwudi Ariekpare, SCID, told the officer-in-charge of general investigation, Supol Stella Ebikefe (SP), to dispatch a team of detectives. In course of investigation, the trail led to the two employees. When properly questioned, they spilled the beans, confessed to the crime, and gave graphic details of the roles played by each of them.

Chukwuneye in his confessional statement admitted that he was the mastermind of the evil act.

Recounting his role to Sunday Sun reporter, he said: “Three months ago, I was employed by the Chinese as an interpreter and he paid me N70,000 monthly. I masterminded the whole ugly incident; I gave the security man, Abdullahi, a spare key to the bedroom of our master and told him to set the house ablaze after taking the money.

“It was people in the neighbourhood who alerted me that the house was burning, but I pretended as if I didn’t know what was happening. I followed my master to Ugbor Police Station to make a report.”

Expectedly, the victim, Wu, felt deeply betrayed by the two men he employed. He said: “I was shocked to learn that the two Nigerians I employed and made them comfortable and also paid them regularly committed the crime. I employed Frank as my interpreter and gave him everything he wanted, yet he betrayed me. He was the only person who knew that I brought N450,000 from the bank and put it in my bedroom. I want justice to be done and the police to recover my money from them.”

Ezike assured that the suspects would be charged to court soon.

How to Avoid NYSC Hard-To-Rectify Mistakes During Registration

Authority of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) released hard-to-rectify mistakes during registration and how to avoid them during registration:

1. Registration by proxy: affected PCM can not register at camp because the biometrics is not his/hers.

2. Mixed up registration: some cyber cafe operators have the habit of registering more than one persons at a time in one computer by opening 2 or more tabs on the same browser. This causes mix-up in the PCMs information which is hard to rectify.

We advise you to sit with the person registering you and make sure he doesn’t register another person at same time he registers u. When you want go somewhere before he finishes with u, tell him to log you out before he starts with somebody.

3. Don’t allow cafe operator to use his email address for you. If you don’t have email, let him create one for you and make sure he gives you the details…email address and the password. Keep them safe because you need them.

4. For married women, make sure you go with your marital documents, choose married online and upload them during registration. In the column to input your spouse surname, make sure you put the correct surname you are using after marriage.

5. For sick person, make sure you indicate it and the type of sickness, also provide all other details and upload medical report .

6. For millitary and SSS, make sure you indicate and provide all other relevant info and upload the required documents.

7. If you are a foreign trained graduate, make sure you read the registration requirements at
nysc.gov.ng and upload all required documents. Try to log into your account time to time for information asking you to update some of your documents. Failure to do so may lead you not mobilised eventually.

Davido didn't pay me to feature on Oshinachi remix - Humblesmith

Budding singer, Humblesmith has addressed reports that Davido paid to feature on his hit song, Osinachi.
Davido in the song had addressed his baby mama issues but in an interview with Punch newspaper, Humblesmith said Davido’s lyrics in the remix does not deviated from the original message of the song.

“No, I have not. Osinachi still means ‘From God’ irrespective of the person that was featured in the remix or the lines he dropped,” he said.

“I don’t think he insulted anybody in the song. Music is life, it is reality. It lets people know what is happening in your life. Davido said ‘My humble father sinachi, my loving daughter sinachi, Dele Momodu sinachi, no be by force to go Dubai’. That is what is trending in his life. Don’t forget that there is a place he said ‘I forgive and forget.”

He maintained that he does not regret featuring Davido on the song and that he does not need to ask to see his lyrics before he recorded.
Debunking reports that he was paid, Humblesmith said “that is social media for you. I did not pay Davido and he did not pay me also.”

He added that the remix will not have a negative effect on his career.
“It is not going to affect my career in any way. Some people love the original version which has Phyno in it while others prefer the remix with Davido. Different strokes for different folks.”

Week after Boko Haram attack in Dalori, elders speak

Dalorima informed the delegates that no amount of pressure from the Islamists would compel the residents to desert their community and become refugees. Addressing President Buhari, the locals confirmed that are committed to remain in their ancestral home, as death, according to them, is inevitable in any society.

“We are grateful for the visit to sympathize with us over the unfortunate attacks last Saturday, but we are appealing to government to stop the ongoing digging of trenches around our community, because these trenches will prevent our people whenever there is an attack from fleeing as an escape route in the community.”

The people of Dalori called on the authorities, particularly on the National Emergency Management Agency, to provide them with food items and rebuild their destroyed houses instead of offering the relocation.

“We are not going anywhere. This is our land and we have no other place than Dalori. We are not against deployment of security personnel to this community, but my people are strongly against surrounding them with trenches,” Alhaji Ali Bukar Dalori, the Borno state chairman of the All Progressives Congress, said on behalf of the community.

In his return, the SGF reminded the team was in Dalori on behalf of the president. He prayed God to grant eternal rest to those who lost their lives in the attacks and wished the injured a quick recovery.

The Nigerian leader was on an official foreign trip at the time of the attack. However, President Buhari ordered a commission to be sent to the village of Dalori on the outskirts of Maiduguri, where over 86 people were killed on Saturday, January 30.

The locals said the death toll of the Boko Haram raid exceeded 100 lives, with many people missing.

Chibok Kidnapping: "Nobody can bring back the girls because they are nowhere to be found"-Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said the over 200 girls abducted by Boko Haram in Chibok, Borno State may never be found because their whereabout is unknown.

He stated this on Friday, February 5 while fielding questions during the Seventh Roundtable with Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, a programme organised by Obafemi Awolowo University Staff Club.

"The search for the abducted Chibok girls may not be fruitful. Nobody can bring back the girls because they are nowhere to be found." he said.
Obasanjo blamed former President Goodluck Jonathan for ignoring the distress call to rescue the girls on the day they were abducted.

"The former president heard about the kidnap 8am in the morning of the abduction but failed to act until 72 hours later and by then it was too late."

"Anyone saying the Chibok girls will return is telling lies, maybe some of them will return to tell their story."

According to him, the best efforts to rescue the girls can yield is that few of the girls may be found.
He described the failure of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in the 2015 presidential election as a blessing to Nigeria.

Responding to a question posed to him about the constant fight between him and Prof. Wole Soyinka, Obasanjo described the playwright and Nobel laureate as a hunter rather than a political analyst.

"I will trust Wole Soyinka as an "aporo hunter" than trusting him as a political analyst. I have no ssue with him"

2 missing as boat capsizes in Lagos

Just one week after a boat mishap in Badore claimed the lives of seven people, another boat has capsized in the Badagry area with two feared dead.

According to reports, the fibre boat which had 10 passengers crashed into a log of wood after it took off on Saturday from Ebute Iworo Jetty, en route Badagry.

Out of the ten passengers on board, only four of them were reported to have used life jackets.

Confirming the incident, the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), NEMA South-west Spokesperson, Mr. Ibrahim Farinloye said:

“Unlike the previous incident which was caused by sand dredgers, this incident was happened because the boat hit a log and capsized, upturning its passengers into the water.“The boat is called a fibre boat because it has engine. It happened in Badagry. It so happened that the open canoe hit a log while sailing, lost balance, and capsized with 10 passengers.

“Emergency responders like the Marine police, LASWA, NIWA and local divers have rescued eight people alive while the search for a woman and the driver of the canoe continues. The correct figure of those rescued alive is eight. Also, out of the eight, only four wore life jackets while others did not.

Pakistan police arrest six for arranging wedding between 6 & 7year old boy & girl

Police have arrested six people accused of arranging the marriage of a seven-year-old boy and six-year-old girl in eastern Pakistan, officials said Saturday. The fathers of both children, the cleric performing the ceremony, and three witnesses were charged under the Child Marriage Restraint Act on Saturday after being arrested in Punjab province on Friday, senior police official Saifullah Khan told AFP.

They face six months imprisonment and/or a fine of 50,000 rupees ($500).
Local police chief Mehr Riaz Hussain said the accused have denied that the wedding took place, but police have it on video.

Pakistani lawmakers last month withdrew a proposal to impose harsher penalties on those who arrange child marriages after it was scuttled by a religious body which branded it "blasphemous" and against Islam.

The proposal, which would also have raised the legal age of marriages for females from 16 to 18, called for "rigorous" punishment of up to two years in prison for those who organise child marriages, still common in some parts of Pakistan.

The original law stipulates the age of marriage to be 16 for women and 18 for men but Pakistani religious scholars at the Council of Islamic Ideology, believe it is not in accordance with Islamic teachings.

They say there is no specific age limit for marriage in Sharia as an individual can marry when he or she reaches puberty and puberty cannot be defined by age. Rights activists strongly criticised the rejection of bill.

Catholic Church Should Send Fr. Mbaka To Sambisa Forest – Abati

Former Special Adviser to President Goodluck Jonathan on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, has advised the Catholic church to transfer Rev Fr. Ejike Mbaka to the Sambisa forest, the alleged Boko Haram headquarters.

He said this in response to the cleric’s reaction to his transfer to serve as assistant priest in another parish.

In his latest article entitled “Mbaka: Priest, politician or renegade?” Abati wondered why Mbaka was complaining about the posting instead of quietly abiding by the decision of higher authorities.

Abati, noting that the priest talked as if had been sentenced to a jail term, described Mbaka as all-round entrepreneur in church garments.

Continuing, “Mbaka’s transfer to a smaller parish should remind him of the essence of his priestly vows: humility, simplicity, obedience, sacrifice, as well as commitment to the good of the church rather than individual heroism, values which can truly make him a priest in the Order of Melchizedek.

“Let him therefore, suffer if he must, and let his suffering be a blessing upon the poor and the Church, and if he as much as whimpers again, let him be posted post-haste to Sambisa forest, where the poor are in urgent need of miracles.”
